It is possible that the oil pump took a dump too. But ....... running WOT with a new engine or ring job is a good way to kill even a honda or the like. Untill you find out the exact cause I would be afraid to try any more repairs. What you did with a ring job appears to have treated the symptoms not the cause./

check to see if it has a "cover" over the fan shroud. some JCL's and other bikes come with a fancy chrome trim ring on the fan shroud and limits the air flow by like half. throw that crap away If you look close in the pic, you can see that I run a HOCA 125/150 type 2 chrome fan. I also cut out the "grill" for max air flow and run rich. no problems yet in this texas heat. I am currently stretching aluminum mesh into an convex "bowl" to keep debris and toddler fingers out.

You can't really see it, but I'm running the stock fan, and I cut off all the plastic grill, and put on a 4" 45° PVC pipe. I found an old chrome toothbrush holder at the flea market for a dollar; the bottom of it was a mesh-type, so I cut everything off, and affixed the metal mesh to the PVC pipe using QuickSteel Epoxy Putty. Seems to be working great, IMO.
