Sorry for the spam of threads here but something else just came up. While in idle my 2011 YY250T sounds a lot louder than it used to. Almost like it would if there was a much wider diameter muffler. Though I can feel zero impact on the way it drives as it's still very smooth. I don't see anything obvious that's happened physically. I don't smell anything out of the ordinary.
Sooo... Any ideas on why it's significantly louder than it was just last week?

I am thinking you have a loose muffler clamp by the header. Or the Gasket by the header. Either way you probably want to fix it as you do not want that exhaust blowing directly back as could potentially get to hot and melt some things that should not be melted if you know what I mean.

sometimes the exit pipe becomes unwelded from the inside of the muffler letting a intreior blow by occure and gets some what louder mahe sure the loudness is commimg out the back of the muffler first of all then we can go from there to see whats going on . travler 1

I tried to see if I can hear where it's coming from but it's hard to tell. I'll go down and turn it on and see if I can get a better idea.

Ok it's definitely NOT coming from the muffler. I put my ear right up next to the engine and muffler and the sound is coming more up inside. It's making a sound almost reminiscent of a diesel engine.

Follow up question. Would driving this for another couple days hurt anything until I can fix the issue this weekend? Like I said nothing else seems to be affected yet as it drives as smooth as ever. And it only has 3000 miles on it so far.

while the scooter is running not hot just started squirt a little heavy liquid soap water mix around the area that the exhust pipe connects to the motor and watch if it bubbles or just gets blown a way if so youll have to replace the gasket not hard to do at all and some thims thoes header nuts or bolts just loosen up or were never tightend properly check that out first also may be just needs a little tightening travler 1

thats an other option put on a new pipe gasket and muffler if thats what leaking thats strictly up to you , it wont hurt to much to ride for a bit but it will get worse and youll start loosing the back pessure these smaller engins need to preform properly but lets make sure that the exhust is where all the noise is commimg from first and then move on travler 1

Ok I'll update you tonight when I get it home and check all the bolts and stuff. I ride to around in LA all the time where they don't believe in repaving their friggen roads so it's quite bumpy at times. So something may have rattled loose.

One thing you can check without taking major plastic off is pop off the battery/carb cover under the seat. Then start up and you should be able to see or glide your hand around WITHOUT touching the pipe to see if the leak is there. Also should be able check while it is cool if the clamp is tight around where it connects to the manifold at the HEAD. You may not be able to reach it from the top. My bottom picture shows the exhaust hook up with no plastic on. But On this motor it is pretty easy to get to with the plastic on to check to see if that clamp is loose.
