Ok, have you checked the weights in the Variator maybe that is all it is? I mean I can change my weights on my Trike and make it only reach 4000-5000 rpms and it will not go any higher. I think that at least would rule the weights out and if its the weights that is a very cheap fix and easy fix. If you do not know how to we have Videos on how and we can help you step by step as well. Alleyoop

Weights are stock I forget what weight they are. I had even tried lighter sliders and made zero difference at the time.

First thing I would check is the compression, if it is low on compression it will not have much power under load. Also what gram weights do you have in the Variator heavy weights will keep the rpms down. Alleyoop Im sorry. I am just so fed up. I can check the compression until I am blue in the face. It is not much different that it was before I changed the cylinder, rings and Piston. So am no farther than I was before I started. If it is low compression I have absolutely NO CLUE how to fix the issue.... bad valves and or rings = poor compression Tvnacman <----wispering "did you hone the cylinder" John

Have had over a freaking year trying to fix the same damn problem. It is over. time to get ride of crap. I would much rather ride that fight fixing a piece of shit.

I know crap myself about your problem, but have you thought of replacing the two wires from the cdi to the coil?

That could very well be a torn diaphragm on the top of the carb. John

That could very well be a torn diaphragm on the top of the carb. John That is an easy enough check and have not done it again on this new carb but guess it could not hurt. I do have a spare diaphram.

Now put spare diaphragm in. Now I need a bit more help ALLEY.....HELP
Ok so seems to run great.. Bit cool today so warming up took a bit. Now seems when I get on it and open it up that at the top end it wants to sputter and pop so I think it now down to carb adjusting. Maybe. I am not going to be in a hurry now cause it will be a few weeks before I get it back my dad is picking it up tomorrow to take up to a friends house so he can ride around his farm for a bit to get used to riding again to go and take his MC test.

Congratulations, Todd. It sounds like your top end is too rich. Normally you would have to decrease the main jet size. You might try dropping the needle jet one or two notches first. This might give you enough adjustment.
My guess on the torn diaphragm would be from a brand new carb.

What ticks me off about having a torn diaphragm in it is that was the second one that had bad diaphragm in it. That was also no the only hole just the largest hole. Oh and the one spare diaphragm I have does not have an adjustable needle. So guess I should look at getting an assortment of Jets to try out huh? can you guys give me some pointers on places to get them and what sizes I should pick up. If I remember right when I saw them before they are pretty cheap so would pay to pick up a variety.
