I recieved my puller today and no can continue work on my gy6 ruckus swap. I am going to convert my charging system to a 11pole and my question is with my flywheel work or do I need to swap it out. I found out today after removing my flywheel that I have a 8 pole stator........
also I believe I need a 7wire R/R......

some say yes you do need to change the fly wheel . when i did the conversion I did change the flywheel . I used the 7 pin regulator , you could use a 6 pin as well . I would stick to what has worked for me .

yes you will need the flywheel for the 11 pole stator and the 7 wire r/r in the tech section is the full how to for doing this conversion i am in the process of doing the same on my bike

Ok, just wanted to be sure before I bought something I don't need. I will check out the tech section for the info there. How about the best place to buy these parts??

If you are going from 8 to 11 pole the 8 pole flywheel will work in 95% of cases

Well just to pick your brains Sprocket, What or Why won't some 8 Pole Flywheels not work with an 11 Pole stator, If you know? Alleyoop

Alley, I don't know...just what people have told me... most just use the old flywheel, but a few have said that the 8 pole didn't work with their 11 pole stator... but I think in those cases it was rectifier/regulator mismatches.
But I have never seen a true 11 magnet flywheel either...all the ones I have seen have 8 magnets...
I know they SELL flywheels with 11 pole stators, but I bet they are still 8 magnets...
I could be wrong.. won't be the first time!!! ;D

There is no electrical reason why the amount of magnets will cause an installation not to work. If the diameter of the flywheel is correct and the gap between the ends of the stator poles and the inside of the flywheel is correct, then electrical current should be produced when the flywheel is spun by the engine.
An 11 magnet flywheel would produce more pulses of current for each revolution of the flywheel than would an 8 magnet flywheel. This could give a slightly greater power output. A major factor which could affect the output would be the strength of the magnets in the flywheel. Stronger magnets will give more power. Stronger magnets along with stators with more poles and more copper windings cost more and this is probably one reason why name brand (higher priced) scoots and motorcycles do not seem to have any problem with electrical capacity.
