It depends on who came in and asked. If I own a shop, no. If its someone I know who needs the work, yes.

Terrilee, THAT was beautiful and well put!!! ;D ;D ;D I salute you as a great pugilistic! Knock the crap out of this guy AND his attitude. If he want's to HELP his buddy then do the fixing for free and give him this forums site page. I'll bet his friend would save a few $$, keep a rider mate, and end up knowing how to do the fix himself after being schooled! here, that's fer damn sure! M/C

i would help if i got paid for my input but if it was to be used for helping some one that thinks he can fix some thing and finds out he is over his head i would let him learn the hard way when i come across a problem i can not fix i will tell the person that i am not able to fix it and not charge for what i have done it the price of learning and i have told people that i was not able to fix one thing and they have came back with other things for me to fix so be honest with the guy and learn from this that you need more knowledge to be able to charge for a job that you do

I forget the user name off hand but, there is a Dealer/Mechanic that only posts How do I fix....... at the Dawgpound. Surprisingly enough he does get lot's of replies. In this case I believe the user has changed his handle since trying to get 70mph out of a 50cc. (I maybe wrong) Inexperience and in a bind asking for advice is one thing but telling a buddy, Yeah bring it over I'll fix it. And not knowing what to do is different. A real friend would just come over, have a look and see if there is something that can be done. Maybe point out the forums and learn something new. Oh well... BTW Terrilee that's the first time I've seen your claws come out. You are Bad

people have complained to other forum monitors about me, but when the mod reads the whole thread they always back me. so i must be right.
its just that other forum has SOOOOOO many kids that argue with u, etc etc etc

For sure Terrilee gave it to him straight and easy to understand. What I don't understand is why would anyone even mention what he was doing for someone eles to start with? Why not just ask "hey how do I fix this and can you guys help? He could even said "I'm helping a friend" short and sweet. Why would you even take the chance of offending anyone? Common sense dictates that some people wouldn't care one way or another and some would not think nicely of it but again why not keep it to yourself? Also he could have said it like this and it would have came across better IMO. "hey I had a buddy of mine front me $50 cause I was in a bind and I'm trying to re-pay the favor by fixing his scooter and if you people don't mind I need some help on a problem?" But the way he put it was all wrong IMO as he is charging him and asking for free advice that's what has got him the bad trouble with folks. Kind of like saying I'll clean your house for pay if you show me how! Also looks like someone else got a little flack on that thread too? Like the parts vendor? Looks like they have no answer either? Makes one wonder about that place sometimes? JR
