hey Jr hows it going well my mc 150 was stolen in nov and iv had to take public transportation since ,at 7.00 a trip ,got my refund of 500.00 back and found a wildfire sc50 with only 630 miles on it so i wont have to walk no more. going from a 150 to a 50 is a little tough though and i was wondering what can i do if anything to get this scoot to do 50 mph without it blowing up . thanks for your time

What you will spend getting the 50 to do 50 you can buy a 150. Then it would be on the edge running it at that speed anyways always Wide Open Throttle with the engine screaming. It wouldn't last very long. The 50s will usually do in the 30s if you get a good one. Reaching 40 with them takes some doing as well. Sorry for the bad news but you are asking to much from a 50 they are good around town 25-30 are so miles per hour, Alleyoop

Well Chris like Alley said it'll take a few bucks for sure but there are some cost effective things you can do to help it some. Since you're riding up in the hills we need to keep the RPM's up to get up the hills yet not stress the engine too much.
On your day off slide the CVT cover off and lets check the weight of the rollers and ny thought here is maybe going with the same weight sliders or maybe 1 gram lighter. This will keep us going up the hills and gain a tad of top end. May can tweak the main clutch spring to help some.
Upjetting, unifilter and maybe derestricting the muffler a little will get us a touch too.
Not going to work any miracles here but with very good tuning, tires at the right pressure, maybe 5 or 6 MPH. Not a lot I know but again cheap to do, quick and easy and when you need help fine tuning the carb Alley can help get it dialed in to the Tee!

my $.02
if u do a BBK, it is waiting to go. the power etc u will put out, may be to much for what u left stock, ie... the shaft, etc etc unless u r disciplined enough not to WOT all the time
i mean a 150cc is supposed to cruise all day at 45-50, a 50 is made to do 30-35 all day there is no replacement for displacement
just my 2 centsAttachments:

A good windshield can sometimes add a couple of mph to the top speed. Here's what mine looks like: The streamlining effect does make a difference. JR's suggestions will help, but the wheel size and final drive gear ratio will be a limiting factor. My scoot is pushing 9000 rpm at 45 mph. 50 mph would be in the neighborhood of 10000 rpm. This is well into the red line area and will cause damage if held too long. I have no problems cruising my 50cc between 35 and 40 mph. This is better than average for a 50cc and in my case I might really have a 60cc engine (uses a 44mm instead of a 39mm piston) which was shipped from the factory in some of these models.

My 49CC Wildfire totally benefited from changing the variator, (Scrappy). Factory and replacement rollers 6 G. This put cruise or WOT, at 7200RPM, up from 6900, hill climbing ability was 3 to 5 MPH better and fuel economy went up a few MPG because less throttle. If I were to play with it further I would order 5G. and try three 5G and 3 6G, and straight 5 G.

Lot's of good cost effective suggestions for quick results Chris. I forgot about the windsheild, thanks Cruiser.
What you need to remember also with the BBK your'e going to have to do some carb tuning as up jetting, possibly open the exhaust and for sure then you'll need to find tune still the CVt.
My first thought is try the suggestions here and see what you can get out of her and go from there. Of course one's budget plays a part in this but like all have said you can get the cost of a 150 in a 50 real quick and still have the 50.
Watch for a good cheap used 150 IMO.

i'd say shop around...i'm not a big fan of BBK thingy, more often than not it's a time bomb waiting to explode and ready to ruin your engine anytime...i wouldn't push a 50cc to do a 45-50mph all the time, that's a punishment...shop around and don't delay,,spring is just around the corner, whichever corner that is...scooter prices is going up. ..and yes, Craig'sList is the answer. get a 250cc man! good luck!
and my goodness, don't ever put a windshield on a 50cc,,it's surely slow you down by a real margin...mygad!,who gave that windshield idea?jizz!

The windshield suggestion was mine. It works and is common knowledge because the smooth windshield is more streamlined than the human body (unless you're very round). You use the proper size windshield that deflects the air around your upper body. If you go too big then you will loose the effect because you will be pushing too much air out of the way.
