Listen to JR & Alley,..they know their stuff If you are stuck with the scoot for now,..go with simple mods like JR mentioned,.but I would include an oil cooler if you want your motor to last,..wide open throttle is gonna kill it fast unless you change your oil every week at the least There are tons of kids on these forums who claim 50,...maybe down a 40 degree hill with the wind at their back I own a 50cc Maddog,... it will go 41 on the flats,..speedo says 47 Changed out to sliders,.added NYC trans,..not necessary on NYC stuff keep it simple No bbk ,.just rejet hi flw air filter,..I have an oil cooler as well,.monster scooter parts has them at a huge bargain right now,.30 bucks with hardware,..others start around 100 more that I have found online,..you pay for the brand name It will pay for itself with less frequent oil changes.and longer motor life Trust me,..you don't want to burn up that motor since its your only transportation,..and it will burn up with that type of riding,..just wasn't meant for that type of travel without one

Just wanted to mention Replace or modify the air filter cone on the Maddog 50cc It only has a 1/8 inch foam filter in it,..horrible,..cool looking yes,..but do something about it Not sure if the 150 is similar,..intake tube is fine

Yes,..the welds are much better,..overall quality is much better The welds on my tail lights are a bit rough tho Maybe a beginner on the assembly line,..frame welds are tight For those who are into quick fun rides,..its a great deal
You couldn't build one from a ruckus for the money & time involved Just bolt on cool mods,..rejet ,..so easy to work on without a plastic shell Just a heads up tho,...the mass rmv has the 50cc model listed in their data base as capable of going over 41 mph,...thus making it a limited use vehicle,...plates and insurance,..no Mc required,..tho I have one Rmv is cracking down Very cheap to insure & register anyways,..& more responsible Enjoy the Maddogs everyone,...

I finished my motor today Just waiting for weather to warm to get my death trap out of storage and pop it in Should go smoothly,...planned it out for months I can't imagine anyone going over 35 in this thing,...really scary!!! I just want good pep up to 40 max,...I installed the new NYC adjustable secondary sheave,..so I will update if the 80 clams was worth it. Its supposed to give you better acceleration and top speed with lower rpms We will see Got one for my ego 150 too Also want to mention,..found exceptional oil coolers on monster scooter parts website 30 bucks with hardware & choice of color,..can't beat it Fits right on the mounting plate of my Maddog ruckus clone in front of seat,..but could be mounted anywhere I suppose It might be a price mistake,..so grab them up quick,..just letting you guys know since you have helped me

Thanks alley I plan to start off with the 120,...then plug chop it,..rather go a little rich with a fresh motor,..then lean it out,..have plenty of jets The thing is scary over 35 anyways,..like a Model T,..wants to pull around ruts,..steering is so basic!.no steering damper But its really fun I changed all the badging/emblems/graphics to a much cooler style,..got rid of that beach cruiser rental look Will post pics after motor swap

I just wanted to update my experience with the Maddog 50cc Took it out of proper storage last weekend to upgrade trans & add goodies. To my surprise,..the clutch had the big shoes on it,..the variant drive was better than stock with 5 gram rollers..couple off by .1 Came with Gates Power link belt. 19mm carb with 75 main 35 pilot Stock drive face & rear sheave, & clutch bell..1000k clutch & torque springs Changed out trans to ncy parts & Dr pulley 6 gram sliders...re-jet to 78,..1500k torque Haven't ridden it yet due to weather,..74 degrees here in mass on Sunday,..snowing Monday night Idles & revs nice,..will see when weather is good to ride There's now a website that offers some parts that interchange with both the ruckus & the clone Maddog...I saw on Ice bears website the new changes on another model of Maddog they are making,..cool west coast look but some of the colors are just Disney World/Easter egg colors

Nice big shoes on that alley! Did that come with the rear pulley behind the clutch? I've seen a supposedly new ncy adjustable rear pulley for about 80 beans online,..but haven't heard anything about it. I also own a 2008 Suntrike and an Evo 150 I have been nabbing tips from your posts/replies to refine reliability & tuning Mine is 390lbs,..I weigh 2 bills,...so your set up was a great guide to jump off from,...I thank you! Retired 4 years ago,..running out of projects & the scoots are fun to run around on Let me pick or brain a bit,..I'm replacing my Suntrike 150 with a new motor I've been working on during the winter,..stock except ncy intake tube, uni filter, PMC all aluminum exhaust, motorio variator, bai king clutch & bell,..the variator is a bit heavy, but balance is spot on & ultra smooth. Gates belt 1500 torque, 1000 clutch, 10.5 rollers average,..9s & 12s Do not have motor in or running yet Am I on the right track? I know you must have experimented a bit before your bbk Thanks alley I know you advise to go 4 sizes higher when jetting with these mods,..but will this ring true with my heavy trike? Don't ride enough to BBK it Don't want to go too lean and burn up a fresh motor,..I thought between 115 & 120 main may be a good starting point to do plug checks,...what's your thoughts?

Bought one last summer,..pleasure to work on,..surprisingly better QC. and wide open to mods,...even an oil cooler mount. Don't expect actual ruckus parts to interchange. Since it has a fatty rear tire,..replacement of standard and performance gy6 exhausts will need header pipes extended wider to fit. Has great zip out of the box after normal things replaced like fuel/vacuum/oils/belt from mile 0 After slight tuning of carb Unsure how this carb is set up as far as jet size..haven't checked since it runs so well as is. But it can't be stock. Intake tube looks cool,.and air flow seems very smooth Rollers may need tweaking for the hills I have...still breaking in GPS hits 40 easily on flats,...but not pushing it like a little kid Will be upgrading trans this spring for reliability and bite Anyone using the new ncy clutch pulley yet out there? Cops once said to me at light,...now that's a scooter!! But beware,..my RMV has this listed in their database as going 41mph+ I had to reg this as a limited use vehicle (although under 50cc) not requiring a MC in Mass Still need ins + plate,..but riding without $100 of ins is kind of risky IMO I would of bought the 150 if it was available at the time,..the 2014 ice bear 150 latest model has even more west coast details,...check website Saves a lot of dough modding a ruck frame and all gy6!! Mines just for thrills,..too old and busted up for games,...lots of compliments from all ages "'
