Congratulations, Todd. It sounds like your top end is too rich. Normally you would have to decrease the main jet size. You might try dropping the needle jet one or two notches first. This might give you enough adjustment. My guess on the torn diaphragm would be from a brand new carb. Cruise you would be correct... What ticks me off about having a torn diaphragm in it is that was the second one that had bad diaphragm in it. That was also no the only hole just the largest hole. Oh and the one spare diaphragm I have does not have an adjustable needle. So guess I should look at getting an assortment of Jets to try out huh? can you guys give me some pointers on places to get them and what sizes I should pick up. If I remember right when I saw them before they are pretty cheap so would pay to pick up a variety.

Now put spare diaphragm in. Now I need a bit more help ALLEY.....HELP
Ok so seems to run great.. Bit cool today so warming up took a bit. Now seems when I get on it and open it up that at the top end it wants to sputter and pop so I think it now down to carb adjusting. Maybe. I am not going to be in a hurry now cause it will be a few weeks before I get it back my dad is picking it up tomorrow to take up to a friends house so he can ride around his farm for a bit to get used to riding again to go and take his MC test.

That could very well be a torn diaphragm on the top of the carb. John That is an easy enough check and have not done it again on this new carb but guess it could not hurt. I do have a spare diaphram. WE HAVE A WINNER... Or LOSER.. depending how you look at it. Any one want to gather a guess on where I pulled this out of?

from the looks of it it is just a cap over the adjuster. Just have to pop the cap off and there is probably and adjustment screw underneath.

I know crap myself about your problem, but have you thought of replacing the two wires from the cdi to the coil? Nope have not thought of that one.

Im sorry. I am just so fed up. I can check the compression until I am blue in the face. It is not much different that it was before I changed the cylinder, rings and Piston. So am no farther than I was before I started. If it is low compression I have absolutely NO CLUE how to fix the issue.... bad valves and or rings = poor compression Tvnacman <----wispering "did you hone the cylinder" John I did . but I am to the point with this thing I just do not care anymore. Have had over a freaking year trying to fix the same damn problem. It is over. time to get ride of crap. I would much rather ride that fight fixing a piece of shit.

Weights are stock I forget what weight they are. I had even tried lighter sliders and made zero difference at the time.

First thing I would check is the compression, if it is low on compression it will not have much power under load. Also what gram weights do you have in the Variator heavy weights will keep the rpms down. Alleyoop Im sorry. I am just so fed up. I can check the compression until I am blue in the face. So far my dad has had the best luck getting parts out of a place in florida. They are actual Linhai parts not knock offs but they are not the cheapest place all parts have worked. I will try and get the name and number of the place and get it posted up here. It is best to call them with what you are looking for. Their web site sucks..

Todd that does remind me once of a fellow that had a throttle cable that would stick at a certain point and he thought it was opening up all the way on full throttle. Put it on the center stand and use your hand to move the carb throttle and mark the point in which it stops at WOT and then move it with the throttle hand grip on the handle bars and see if it goes to the same spot. JR Well I am getting full range of the throttle that part does not seem to be an issue. And On the center stand again I can get over 4000 rpm. It does act like it is starving for fuel. I just do not know where to go with this crap. I am not a motor Mechanic.

Ok I have done every damn thing I can think of to get the POS to run right. The new Coil it is running and staying running after it is all warm but the POS junk still after everything will not and does not have any top end. It idles great but the thing will NOT go over 4000 rpm when under a load Period. It is flat out just a total DOG. Im done trying I am getting rid of the Piece of Junk. Fubar sold me a bill of good on this piece of crap and I am done trying with it.
