So my intention was to give up and take it to the scooter shop in my city, but they informed me that they won't work on Roketa's.  . I replaced the spark plug but still no fire. |

Alley: my problem seems to be lack of power going INTO the CDI (10.2Vdc). Is that an indication that the CDI is bad?

Also, if anyone can post a link to the correct CDI I should order, I would appreciate it. I found some on ebay but I would rather go with what someone on this board recommends.

Still not getting spark. In a couple of hours I am going to try jumping with my car battery and see if that makes a difference. Is there any surefire way to test whether the CDI is bad?

I charged the battery overnight and now it is at 14.4vdc. The CDI measures 12.54 with ignition on and 10.26 while cranking. Still does not start. My guess, from reading previous posts, is that there is still not enough power coming into the CDI at 10.26 because Jr. said it needs to be at least 10.5 vdc. If the battery is above 14, what could be causing the CDI to be getting such a lower voltage?

John: I will try hooking it up to my truck tomorrow with the engine off. My meter has the battery at over 12 vdc. What should it be at?

Update: the spark plug boot was bad. No connectivity. I just ran the the store and picked up a new boot. Now, oddly, when I take the plug out to test for spark I get a spark upon turning the ignition on but no spark while cranking.
John: the power into the CDI while cranking was 9.5 vdc.

Alley: this is how the engine ground is hooked up, right to the neg terminal. I am disconnecting the wire on the CDI that you indicated next. Will let you know. Attachments:

JR: the wires going to the CDI are black and black/white on the two prong and green, black/yellow and red white.
