I have the broke engine off under the scooter on RED BRICKS. You have to read the thread to get the joke. Also red bricks supporting the wheel and covered. I haven't yet split the case, its kind of a lost cause but I want to. To see what got messed up inside. That piston rod is holding the cylinder in place so I haven't been able to get the piston apart to see the damage. I do know the cam chain looked fine. Cams journals were worn but okay If you are curious about the RED BRICKS where it came from it came about from here. itistheride.boards.net/index.cgi?action=display&board=50ac&thread=1923&page=1

Just wanted to share on this forum. At 3,300 miles I replaced my rear tire, put in 15/37 gears in the gear case. I had some chattering and Isolated the noise was coming from the engine and not the variator, clutch, or gears. I took off the variator, clutch and belt and started the engine and it made the same noise. So I had heard(read) posts about a lot of people adjusting their valves to .004. And that its apparently normal to hear a little valve chatter for 100 miles then it goes away or just adjust a little tighter. Ok I just felt like typing that out here is the thread I started on It's The Ride forum. I hope this happens to NOBODY. But it happened to me changing engine/gear oil often and the only thing I did bad was just ride my scooter WOT for 5 miles out of 22 on a trip to work with heavy sliders 15/16grams at around 7,000 rpms for about 55mph. itistheride.boards.net/index.cgi?board=50ac&action=display&thread=2070&page=1Attachments:

I'm just to the 2nd stage of "scooter forum" wandering where I guess you might say you join the 2nd forum to when you join the 3rd forum.

I'd check your diaphragm in the top of your carb. If its bad you will loose speed.
I remember a member on scootdawg that had a diaphragm problem on scootdawg titled "I can't drive just 25!" something like that. I think her handle was bizzibody. I'm looking that up
