It is mounted up under the front end so there is no generated heat near by .. and I would love to know how to check for ground problems .. I have sanded the frame where the R/R mounts and explored the entire wire harness to make sure its not pinched anywhere against the frame.. though I have not unwrapped the harness to check for internal mistakes ...

I have conversed with both of them in the past .. they have always been good help ..
The Scooter is a Dongfang DF150STD but the R/R is identical to the Ruckus if memory serves me right

I removed the motor and cleaned it up totally then reinstalled it ...drained oil and refilled to proper level and did another test drive last night and seems without the pressure from the extra oil its not 'leaking' out and spraying all over the engine anymore ..
It was pushing the oil out of the seal behind the stator and the fan was throwing it forward .. I will keep a close eye on this for some time to come ..
Thank you JR for your help as always !

okay .. more proof I am not half the mechanic I thought I was ..
Got the fly wheel puller today .. put the stator from the blown engine on the new engine .. lights works fine ..
But now im in a world of trouble .. it appears I overfilled the engine with a bit to much oil and took it for a test drive .. 2.5 miles out , 2.5 miles back for total of 5 miles .. went to do my nut/bolt tightening inspection and the engine was hot as heck and oil is covering the bottom of the engine ... not sure what seal or gasket I may have blown .. I will pull the motor tonight and start looking for the origin of the leak ..
any ideas on what seal/gasket might have blown first??

i have checked all the grounds ... cleaned and sanded them. I have a flywheel puller coming that should arrive in the mail today/tomorrow .. I will try installing the stator from the old engine and see if that fixes the problem .. if it doesn't I will reinstall the new stator and run the tests JR.

How do folks .. I'm back to pick your brains Here's the low down .. 2 weeks ago the scooter went ka-put and it died on my way home .. so I empty the oil to start taking it down and several ball bearings came out with the oil .. after trying to fight the variator nut and then not being able to pull the gear behind it with tools I had .. I broke down and just bought another engine .. got it installed and now the lights are dim as can be .. the motor starts instantly and sounds so much better than the last one ever did (I think the crank bearing was improperly installed from the factory as it ticked from day one on the old motor) Just curious what the odds are that when the motor blew that it ruined the R/R? or if this new stater isn't compatable or good ?
