Same forecast here. Coldest day of this winter so far is supposed to be tonight. I have a big strawberry patch and unless the temps drop below 20f I don't even cover them with protective mulch or pine straw. But tonight it's supposed to be down to as low as 12F so I spent 5 hours yesterday covering them with pine straw. Nice and cosy now. JR

12F is what i road in this morning (0 deg W/windchill) so the news and website said. Didn't seem too bad out starting my scooter... tell i hit 35MPH lol. Ok now that's a bit cold even with a FF helmet on. Hope them berry's do ok with this quick drop in temp. Good thang im not within riding distance of said berry patch JR..as the cold, rabbits and wildlife would be the last of you'r worriers.... When i was young, mom had us kids help her pick strawberry's. I remember her saying.... "Larry !. Pick them don't lick them" lol--op's I'd say 1 out of 20 or so never made it into the bucket. Yumm,Yumm strawberry fun. ---------------------------------------- Oh.. sorry jim, for the thread jack.

LOL! The strawberries will be fine as they have been seasoned by the winter weather, they are now covered with a 4" layer of insulating pine straw and even snow won't hurt them. Last year we had a lot of snow and when spring hit I just pulled the straw back and they bloomed quickly and put out tons of berries. I've got a good fence around them so varmints are not a factor now. As far as Jim's thread it's easy to put it back on subject and still ask the question of isn't enough enough? scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=generaldiscussion&action=display&thread=47007It seems that all of the boric acid threads have been removed and cleaned up by one moderator and he has even told those who have run this into the ground no more; scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=46954Just seems that they won't let it go and even headed over to Scooter Doc to gripe and complain when people have indeed left for several reasons IMO. Just today another mod made the old comment of others are leaving because of others forum agenda and it seems that some agree but what's funny to me is the thing that is also obvious never seems to be mentioned by the dawg faithful of other reasons people have left. Some left because of censorship of the other agenda forums and some have left because of the rentless boric acid agenda and the guy who has been asked several times to prove he even owns a scooter being just plain obnoxious to other people. The forum although membership wise is one of the largest around IMO is stale, never any new tech related material posted, lots of threads that have dead links or missing photos, it's not organized in any way and with lots of new people asking for help and not geting very good answers sometimes IMO. And the other agenda stuff mentioned by this moderator which he brings up over and over well how long has his own agenda and forum links been placed all over that forum? How many times as he answered people there with links to his own agenda? And yet he points the finger at someone else? Can you say the pot calling the kettle black? Yes enough is enough and the place needs cleaning up in several areas and until someone IMO starts at the top you'll find more and more pulling up stakes. People are a lot smarter than the mods over there give them credit, they leave for their own reasons and not because of someone promoting better forums after all people who do that quickly get the axe by those who are doing just that! Boric Acid be darned! What gets me going and got me banned once is people who beat up Chinese scooters and call them junk. I find it odd that people who know a speed handle from a Philip's head are piling up big miles on Chinese scooters while "What does this button do?" types can't get around the block on them. It isn't like the mechanical types are working on them all the time. They just seem to know what the limitations of their CCS are and work with them. The less than knowledgeable types need the backing of expensive dealers who do pricey PDIs for them and fix the inevitable issues the owners cause by pushing the wrong button.
Is my CCS a Honda? No. But it seems to have racked up nearly 6,200 miles by my riding it like a $1000 scooter instead of me flogging it like it I would a $4200 CBR 250.
I guess what I'm saying is you can't compare a $7000 Burgman to a $1600 Bali anymore than you can compare a Kia Rio to a BMW 320i.

I guess what I'm saying is you can't compare a $7000 Burgman to a $1600 Bali anymore than you can compare a Kia Rio to a BMW 320i. Sure you can compare if you have a kia budget then the kia is going to be a hell of a lot 'better' than any beemer in that price range (unless your criteria is you want to look like a bottom tier wannabe drug dealer). I made the same choice with our car, new hyundai or used toyota, went with the hyundai and again with the scoot, used honda or new chinese, went with the rocket a and happy with that choice. It might not be apples for apples, but dollar for dollar its a different story. A new kia or a 8 year old beemer, you'll spend a fortune on parts for the beemer etc. Now if you have the money then its a different decision, but you hit the nail on the head, its about your expectations of what you can do on them and how you treat them.
