Today I decided to take a bit of time off the unpacking and changing mail addresses. I stopped in the garage, made sure the scoot was on the main stand, and started it up. Noticed immediately that it was running a bit fast but waited until the fan came on. I could not get it to settle down the way it was in Colorado. So I opened the seat, took out the panel, and started to tweak the carb idle setting. After a bit I was able to slow it down from a bit over 2,000 down to about 1,800. At the higher RPM the rear wheel was really spinning along but at 1,800 the rear wheel was sitting mostly idle with an occasional movement. I guess the move of over 5,000 feet closer to sea level had put more oxygen than necessary in the engine. Hope that also works for my lungs as well.
Next is to get time to get on and ride around the local streets and get used to riding once again. It has been over 6 months since I rode in Colorado. Between bad weather and a summer on narcotic pain relief and house hunting I had no time for fun. Anyone wonder about Shingles? They hurt a plenty and that is why I had narcotics.
This looks like a great place to ride and practice. It is one of those builder tracts where there is no continuous streets. This place is a big maze. The feeder roads have a series of circles and the neighborhood streets go a block or two and force a turn then another turn to get to the next block untill you arrive on your block. Lots of fun with starting, turning, stopping, turn signals on and off, and then one day I will ride out of the developed tract and onto the main traffic roads that go someplace. Speeds on the main road run usually about 35 mph, some a bit higher. Folks around here are a bit more risky than in other places. So it will be mostly defensive driving for me. .

Hey bob hope for sure the lower altitude is agreeing with you and you had happy holidays! Yes when you come down from 5k your scoot is going to need a little fine tuning but shouldn't be a big thing.
Enjoy the pretty weather and the rides too!
