Hi guys, anybody here has a background or experience in making a wind turbine? Specifically vertical axis wind turbine? Any input? Check out this video on YouTube:
Thanks

I myself haven't done one but have seen a few especially in very remote places in the Arkie hills. Some people even though they have electricty in remote places here where developments have come up in the mountains have these plus solar setups. Reason is because when snow or ice moves in and takes down the electricty and it could be days before a repair crew can safely get to it to fix.
With these windmills which is what we call them and battery backup you can do well for days before running an expensive gas powered generator. I know of one guy with his solar and windmill that has no commercial electricty at all but these can be expensive but I would say in the long run they pay for themselves.
Also if you have it set up right you can sell electricty back to the power company as they have to buy it by law. In this case the more wind you have the more electricty you have.

Try this outfit. They are freinds of my son. One of the people was my sons college room mate for a while. I don't know if they operate the type of generator you are thinking of but take a look and they might. Or maybe a contact with them and they can reference a group that does use the type you are wanting. I have never been to their homes but my son has and he really likes it back there far from electrical connections. I am a bit more seduced by convenience so I am not yet ready for all this solar cell and windmill stuff. .otherpower.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.otherpower.com/.
