I went for a little ride around the lake yesterday. The bridge at the dam is closed so I did a turn around at the marina. There were a bunch of kids on bicycles just pulling in at the snack bar and 1 waved me down. "nice moped" he says. I told him it was a scooter not a moped because mopeds have pedals. The kid proceeds to ask me about my scoot - the usual stuff like how fast, what did it cost etc. He asked if I could do burnouts. I said I didn't think so. I proceeded to tell him about the engine - 250cc, DOHC, quad valve. When I told him it was fuel injected, he had to tell all his buddies. He couldn't believe a SCOOT was EFI.
Maybe a scooter rider in the future?

Know what you mean CC! I ride mine to pee wee football practice since the weather is still warm and all the kids still can't believe it's a scooter! My grandson gets a big kick out of hollering at the others "hey look at me!" He's only 9 and already bugging me about riding the 50cc scooter.
Now if I can just get zack to pass that motorcycle test as he;'s now big enough for the Bali!

Good luck to Zack. Barb has decided she wants to get a little 50cc to ride around here in the spring.

Don't say winter JR. We've been out in the boat the past couple days. Hi around 70. Fishing is poor but Barb really enjoyed seeing the eagles, heron, ducks etc. It was really nice yesterday but the day before was windy and the lake was kind of rough. It is ending soon tho. They draw the lake down starting 11/15 and we have to have the boats out of the water by then.

Why do they draw it down? Winter rains? One of the lakes close here is bubbling over with crappie but about the time the water gets nice and cold for them to bite well they drain it down and flood the lower flatland woods for the groves of ducks to come in. Duck hunting paradise!
But I wouldn't trade a truckload of ducks for one good fat crappie! But you get ready old winter is coming like I said! Right now is our high for the day at 56F and it liked to have blew me away today! LOL
BTW did you leave the groundhogs behind? LOL

we have had cold weather and rain for the last 5 days. No bike riding. I go out and start Fred up everyday and give him a 5 to 10 minute warm up just letting the engine run. This is the best way. If I let Fred sit for more than 1 day, he is difficult to start up. Could it be that Fred gets angry when I don't give him daily attention? Oh, I must have bought a jealous, childish scooter! I have not winterized Fred yet because I am hoping for some good weather. Today at 9 am, the sun is finally shining. But it is only 32 degrees now. Ugh. I hate winter.

JR - they draw the lake down to control weed growth. The lake isn't all that deep - max about 20 feet and a large part 6 feet and less. We're surrounded by farms so there's lots of fertilizer run-off when it rains. My neighbor says think of it as a 350 acre farm pond. If they didn't draw it down, it would be a giant salad bowl. We aren't allowed to use anything on the lawns that contains phosphates. There are some nice crappies in the lake.

The lake I fish is drawn down because of the spring flood waters. It is controlled by the Army Corp of Engineers at Louisville, Ky . The water flows into the Wabash River , then into the Ohio River and then flows into the Mighty Mississippi . There are 2 or 3 other lakes that flow into the Wabash and they are also lowered due to the spring rains and the flooding. If I ride my scoot over to the park, I have a lot of kids ask about my scoot too . A lot of them are kids twice over if you know what I mean. LOL's
