One thing I have noticed on this new scoot (Jonway 150) is that the rev's only go to 7k and even though it gets there in good fashion, it get's there and stays there and I was wondering if you have to change the thing out or is there a wire that can be disconnected to let it go on up. At 7000 it is not even getting close to the red line which is set at 8000 and as it is new (less than 50 miles) wouldn't it be better to atleast redline it from time to time in the initial break in?

There has alwyas been that argument of soft or hard break in. IMO most people prefer the soft varying speed break in while there are a few who swear over the quick all out break in.
Also all who know the GY-6 engine well know that the 8k mark will leave it short lived when it comes to riding your scooter for the long haul. But if it is only staying at 7k you're not in most cases reaching the maximum HP to RPM curve that gives you the best top end at about 7500 rpm.
Also most of the time this engine will loosen up and the rpm's will slowly climb to that range but if you do indeed have a exact 7k rev limiter then I would after it gets broke in well cahnge it and then change out my rollers to sliders and adjust the weight accordingly to hit that sweet spot on your scooter.
But here's another thought and this all depends on what you're looking for such as good top end, good mpg or want it to run like a scalded ape and no concern for the above mentioned?
If you can set the engine up to hit the sweet spot like I said then she'll run good for a long time (with proper maintenance) and hit around the 80 mpg range also.

Thanks JR there's always that fine line between performance and durability and this being my third go around with 150cc scooters it does seem like 50mph is about the max one can expect my first one got there in a hurry the second not so quick those first two were Znen retro types and where bulky and heavy with long wheel bases and did feel comfortable and the third is a shorter wheel base and is quick and for some reason doesn't feel as stable as the other two but is a heck of a lot easier to get to the engine and air filters etc etc and it has that jiggley feel down the road and because of the shorter wheel base my feet feel not so much in a natural posistion as the longer ones did and it's gas tank was in the floor board whereas these scoots have em under the seat and I had to take an old gas cap off the Znen and put it on the Jonway cuz the new one just spun around and wouldn't seal...I could go on about the differences and probably should in another thread about how one compares to the other....
and by the way I like this forum and you are doing a heck of a job and that's what makes it fun to check in from time to time...It seems like the''search'' engine on most forums have a problem finding out what it is you are trying to find and the only forum I have seen that searches every and I mean every word you enter is the scooterforumonline thing...it is a pain to find a subject and only be told ''could not find'' when you know darn well it's in there somewhere.....that was one reason I left the one you did too it seemed like no matter how I worded it the question was never right and the thing is I had seen a post about the same subject...and this mind you after toggling off every non discriptive box and going back 90 days and what have you...to me that what this whole thing is about is finding out what others have gone through and the fixes and what ever they had to go through...the'' warnings and 'don't do's''...you know what I mean...here it seems more personalized like a smaller classroom so to speak...keep up the good work my friend... Thanks Sam for the kind words and that was one of my goals and that is to help people find help the easiest way possible.
Know what you mean about about the heavy 150's as I still have my Bali 150 and she's big. But with simple but effective mods I can cruise at 50 to 55 mph without stressing the engine but I still don't push it like my water cooled scooters.
