Since I got this scooter, it has had a strong gasoline smell after a ride. Today, I changed the charcoal vapor recovery canister. The gas smell is gone but the scooter doesn't seem to rev as quickly as before.
The canister is not an exact replacement but it is slightly larger yet has the same three hose connections as the OEM.
Could changing this goody have effected the performance of the motor?

Slightly larger I dont personally think would have any effect on motor performance. All it is vacume and air from gas tank, with cotton or whatever to filter it. Cant say I have ever had the one on the bike open, but there is not much to these things. Although I have learned what you dont think will effect the bike sometimes does, and rather stongly.

Are you sure you hooked it up right and it's application was apples for apples? If you are now sucking air or gas fumes into the vacuum system then for sure your engine will suffer.
Try hooking the old one back in and see if your engine runs better?

I reversed both vacuum lines and it ran worse. I am trying to get the proper canister from JCLUSA Inc.
I have been waiting 2 weeks for a reflector so I may or may not ever see the canister.
Can't find an exact match on line.
