Hello, I am new here. My name is Jeannie and I am from Arkansas. I just brought a used 2014 150 icebear hawk trike. It was a showroom model and only has 77 miles on it. I rode it a couple of times and both times it made a loud grinding noise and would stop and not go no matter how much I pulled the throdle. Then in about a minute it would move again. Now it will not start at all and will jump when I push the start button. A local repair shop told me it sounded like the clutch was not engaging. He will fix it if he can find parts. I ordered a book on how to fix scooters. My husband is very knowledgeable and can fix anything mechanical if he has directions. Does this sound like the clutch? Please help.
Thank You

Quite possibly ,,,it's definitely in the drivetrain ,,,you have to pull the belt cover to see what's going on,,,,it may be in the variator also,,,contact Jim at rapid repair ,,,he has an ad scrolling at the top of the page,,,he is a icebear dealer,,,and is a very knowledgable mechanic as well,,and has a direct line on parts if needed,,,,Welcome to the forum!!!

If it is jumping when she hits the starter, that would indicate that the clutch is NOT disengaging. Sounds like clutch trouble for sure. The question would be why. Maybe possible broken clutch shoe spring parts or other parts causing it to jam in a way that would mimic full clutch engagement? The previous instances of intermittent & weak clutch engagement would be looking like a precursor leading to the problem of the trike "jumping" when attempting to start.
Have you had it looked at yet? If so, what did they tell you?

If the clutch is "locked" in the engaged position, seems like you'd feel resistance from engine compression when you try to push it? More resistance, at any rate, than when it's properly disengaged?

Hi, I'm new here too- in fact this is my first time- be gentle. You said, "...I just bought a used...showroom model...[with] 77miles on it." Shouldn't the dealer be standing behind this "showroom" low mileage trike?

I have 3 Ice Bear Zodiac's but just thinking every one came out with the chain way to tight. Check the sprockets for damage and then go check the CVT make sure the roller's didn't come out of slots they are to be in and the only way that could happen if main nut came lose and unit came apart. Also noise could be coming from your kick start if you have one if parts came apart or loose. Most are easy to check out with basic tools
