Well, I put in the 32 mm supposed performance carb today I got from Ebay . Lost some acceleration and gained ZIP / nodda on the top end which is what I was looking for. It has a main jet the size between a #56 and 57 drill bit. I know because I checked. The Chinese seller said it is a 125 main jet (no markings). I think I will at least have to back off to a 115 Main jet I have learned from another 32 mm carb advertisement . I would bet money I'm running rich. Just for now no air filter, Still stock muffler. Havn't checked the plug yet. Got dark on me. BTW I bet this 32mm carb is no more than a measured mm bigger than the Japanese made stock carb. Definitely do not buy one of these. Just mod your own. Save $100 Again, Mod your stock carb and save your $100 IMO. Any suggestions ?

Aug 9 2016 at 6:10pm jct842 said: First thing I would look at is the rpm at the top speed you get now. Depending on if it is wound out or not to decide on what weights you have and what you need to go to. If you don't have a tach get one on there. If you are a whole lot under red line you need to go lighter in weights which is what I would suspect. Doubt if you will be happy with a larger carb with out doing other mods to go with it. Jetting is usually all that is needed. Folks, Take jct842's post to heart ! And do not buy a 32mm (BS) more like 31mm racing carb they call it. The one I got has at least a 125 main jet which is way to big unless you are gonna mod the rest of the breathing system and maybe even port and cam it. Just do what he says. Don't be a Hard head like me. Read more: scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/13008/mph-more-top-speed-mp250a#ixzz4I4lXi1wE

Get this, After all this I put my 115 main out of my old Jap 30 mm carb in the new 32 mm , New carb ran great then ! But no better readings from the tach and speedo than my old carb. I think it had a sleight edge on my old carb in the mid range. But not enough difference to change much. So what that means is if they will take this 32 mm back I want a refund.

Well, after following three separate threads for two weeks or more, all about basically the same thing, my question on Day 1 still remains, and I'll finally ask it: why on earth do you want to race along 5 mph faster on a chump 257cc scooter? (No insult intended, I had one too.) Do you do a lot of Interstate or something? Mine was comfortable at 65, and that was all I needed for anything short of Interstate.

As far as the three separate threads thing, I was trying to get some answers. No one ever replies hardly anymore so I went the route of over advertising if you will. And still got next to squat ! Where did all the guys that were experts on these Linhia's go that used to be on like Scootdawg ? Like you, Did they ALL graduate to $ 8,000 scooters and loose interest in these Chink machines ? Just wondering where all the good info went ? And as far as why I want about 5 more miles an hour top end. If I could cruise an honest GPS 65 mph all day I would probably be happy enough with that. But, I am 264 lbs. and 6'2 + , I think about all I could cruise at is 62 mph all day. To many fools around here with big pickups for nothing that want to run over everyone going 70 + mph on these two lane country hwys. .

Hell Ellpee, I can't even find someone on this forum that knows if I can take my variator cover off without removing body parts for God's sake. All these people know is "Twist and go" LOL btw, I'm pretty sure I can take that cover off but not positive. But no one else seems to know. lol (No insult intended, I'm just kind of amazed)

I'm replacing the fuel pump since the float bowl is starving out under wot for any decent amount of time. While I'm waiting for my fuel pump I'm making a trap door to get to my intake valve easy. I made one years ago to get to the exhaust valve. These Linhia's with receding valve seats (exhaust valve mainly) need valve adjustments often. And since the engine lays down the exhaust valve is accessible from the belly and the intake has to be accessible from under the seat. If you don't make these access doors or holes you would have to take off all the body work just to get to the top and bottom of the cylinder head to adjust the valves. The trick is to make these mods as invisible as possible. We wouldn't want to louse up the beautiful lines of a Reflex clone would we .

"Like you, Did they ALL graduate to $ 8,000 scooters and loose interest in these Chink machines ? " Not hardly! Sold my Roketa after a wipeout, still have an Ice Bear Magnum trike over in New Mexico but am contemplating selling it too, as it doesn't seem to like high altitudes and bumpy dirt roads very much. Might, however, bring it back to Tucson so I can either do some riding again or have a better chance of selling it.

Don't know for sure, haven't seen anything that says for sure, but it's a horizontal, so I'm guessing Yamaha/Linhai. They call it a 300, but it's actually 278cc. Adequate, but up there at 7000' plus, a bit wimpy, especially on hills. Can hold about 55 on the highway, fast as I want to go on those secondary roads anyway. Had to change jets and do a lot of carb tweaking, and it's still fussy, hard starting when cold.

Yea, The Linhai's aren't the best in the world. But I like the engine layout better than the CF Moto. And IMO they seem to look like they have a bit more quality than the Honda clones. The actual engine that is. You do have a Linhai. Because they don't make a 300 (278 cc) Honda clone China scoot as far as I know.

I know this thread is about a 32 mm carb. But it is all about my quest for a bit more performance. So I thought I would add my variator post. Got the scooter running good with all new fuel delivery parts. Hoses, Right size pump and such. Carb has no issues and away we go. Did the marker variator test and came up just under a 1/4 inch from full belt Diameter at top speed (67-68 mph right now)on said variator. Hovering around 6700-6800 RPM. Max hp is supposed to be at around 6500 RPM on 257cc Linhia. That being said I think I could go up a gram to 15 gram sliders. BTW My stock rollers are the typical for 250 Linhia 14 gram rollers. If 15 gram sliders make it a bit sluggish (a little heavy) I could always drill a half gram or so out on each slider. Any input Guys ?
