It been a while since I was here. Last Oct. I bought a 2003 Burgman 400 at auction and after minor tune up it runs great. Someone had put the Dr. Pulley sliders in upside down. It had 25k miles. It uses a lot of oil. a fellow member in the Tucson scooter club (Sky Island Riders) who has an identical bike tells me that all early Bergie 400s used oil from the start. It uses a pint in 1000 miles or less. Anyone know if this is really normal or should I just do an overhaul??? My Reflex at 48k used less than 4 oz per 1000 but I wanted the higher hp and fuel injection for riding in the higher mountains. Thanks in advance.

I had an 04 Burgman with 26,000 on it, it would use oil only when riding on the freeway , you may need a rebuild but it seems too early for that. I've owned two of the newer 400's and they didn't use any oil but were different motors altogether from the older ones.
