I am sorry but I don't see where to start a new topic so I am posting here out of desperation! I recently bought a scooter that is registered as a 2003 LRX 49cc for my son and I to work on for his birthday. I was a stolen recovery that really only has an electrical problem that we can't handle. The problem is no crank, I have power to horn, blinkers, fuel gage. If I hold both brakes and push the button it acts like the kill switch is on or something. I've taken the control apart and switch looks ok. I have replaced the key switch because it was damaged but still intact. It does turn over by jumping the solenoid but no spark. Any help is greatly appreciated.. Thanks in advance.

chinamaiden I moved your post to the correct place and made a new thread. Ok so we've got to do some testing. Since it will turn over by jumping the solenoid we know the battery is good and since the horn, fuel gauge and blinkers work we know that you are getting power through the key switch. So let's do this simple test to see if the solenoid relay is any good. Unplug it and use some small wire jumpers and put the red/yellow wire to the negative side of the battery and then touch the green/yellow to the positive side of the battery. If the scooter turns over then we've got to start tracing out the gremlin causing this, if it doesn't turn over time to buy a solenoid. Keep us posted and get back with your results. JR

After one very aggravating day spent searching for a problem with starting an old scoot I bought, I finally discovered a little kill switch inside both brake handles that also activates the brake lights. If this switch is damaged, it may be keeping the scoot from starting.
