Thanks JR. I just ordered the one you linked to. Should come next week and I'll post if this was the fix.

Problem solved. It was indeed the brake switch, and now I'm back in business. Good thing to keep in mind. When you think its the starter switch, check if your brake light is coming on when pressed. That'll clue you in on the fact that it is the brake switch.

Thanks alot you guys! You really helped me with the issue of not able to start my motorscooter. The issue of failing brake switches applies to VOG260 but also marketed with many other brandnames like "Tank" or "Xingyue" XY260-T4 (mine in The Netherlands). I just used contact spray and it became loose again and worked again (the hearable clicking sound became back and I immediately knew this causes the starting issue of course).
Regards from Holland

I just wanted to add a little more info for other Vog riders (or tbx 260) for future use: A few weeks ago I noticed that the brake lights were lit up but were not getting brighter when I squeezed the brake handle. I thought it was a short somewhere making the brake lights stay on, until I remembered this thread. I wondered if instead of not going on, perhaps they're already on and not going off. I tried starting without pressing in the brake as a test, and sure enough it fired right up. I removed the brake switch (that I replaced in August) and the little clicky switch had melted in the closed (open?) position. I got a new one, and all is now well. So, if you have a Vog, know that the brake lights are only brake lights (1156's), and if they're lit without pressing the brakes, your switch is bad or you have a short. Good to know.

Good job guys, good to hear it was a simple fix, another good thing to do is to spray a little silicone in there so the switch slides in and out easyly. Alleyoop

Those brake light switches are connected directly to the brake light bulbs. Most are too cheap to take the current of standard filament bulbs and especially so if your scooter tail light assembly has two brake lights. If you must keep the standard filament bulbs due to state regulations the best thing to do is install a 12vdc relay so the relay passes the current to the bulbs while the switches only pull the tiny relay coil. The easiest and cheapest way to go is installing LED bulbs. All you do is remove the old filament bulbs and plug in the new LED bulbs.
