Hello everyone,
I recently picked up an Ice Bear 300cc from a local shop here and so far it has been pretty good though I have had some screws vibrate loose which has been a bit of a pain. I did a quick once over on the parts and everything looks alright, just wondering if anyone with a similar model has any warnings on what to double check or what to check every X amount of miles.
Also wondering what kind of luck anyone has had on performance upgrades to these and where/what to look for. I was hoping to get some parts on it and maybe get up to 70 mph to get onto highways (she pulls about 60 on a good day, 55 usually more comfortably).
Thanks!
Dr. Jingles

My Zodiac very much the same my weight is 240 on level ground 66 mph as far as bolts and screws get blue lock tight and ever screw you can get to lock tight it. You will really enjoy you bike better after it. My buddy's Harley trike all his bolts are lock tight from factory but then he payed 35,000 for it lol

Great info there, thanks. I will have to go through and start tightening with thread locker. I am guessing that includes bolts on the engine itself as I lost one of those that held the overflow drain on recently. As a note to that, has anyone had any luck decreasing the overall vibration on this thing? It seems like there are some bearings on the mounts that should dampen it but they do not seem to work. This seems to be the cause of the bolts falling off, it would be better to treat the cause rather than combat the symptoms.
On performance parts I hear these engines are essentially a gy6 but I didn't see a ton of info on 300cc models of that engine for parts.

As to thread locker, aka LocTite, my advice is, every screw, nut, and bolt you can get to, and check as often as you have time for. Also keep an eye on the electrical connectors, which can jiggle loose. A wee bit of clear silicone adhesive might help in that case. In my particular case, I have a quarter mile of nasty bumpy gravel road before I get to pavement, so I try to do it at least after every second ride/50 miles. Vibration? I've heard of motor mounts cracking, and as I mentioned in my own case, one of the vibration dampers for the front steering was not attached at all on delivery. (I discovered that only by chance, as it was only visible when the fuel door was open, barring removing all the plastics.) The airbox bracket also failed, probably due to vibration, had to design a workaround solution, and the dual mufflers have two fastening points, one of which has already failed, presumably from vibration. I jerry-rigged a fix for that as well, but it all serves to tell you, the quality of the metals on these scoots appears to be well below US standards. Granted, my rough road situation presents a challenge in that regard. Still not filing for divorce, for $4K more or less I'm having a fair bit of fun, but just want to share my thoughts.
