Hello all. I have been hearing exhaust sounds lately coming from the head pipe and decided to check the gasket. It was a gnarled mess. Thought it would be interesting to show a side by side with a new one. Looks like the headpipe was loose and permitted some movement ultimately mashing and burning the thing. Amazing.

I'd say you hit the nail on the head Mike. It sure is toast! Remember when you put the new one in to warm it up, let it cool and then retighten it again, they shrink some after the first heat up.
