Well, ratz! Arrived in Ruidoso yesterday, tried this morning to fire up the Magnum, no go. Good cranking but no fire. Last time I ran it was in early December; since then it's been in the garage with the battery on trickle. Will be checking for spark and fuel to carb later today; if both are good, guess I'll buy some starter fluid and see what happens. Should THAT not get 'er going, ideas welcome.
UPDATE: git 'er going without starter fluid or anything this afternoon. Maybe temperature-related? Anyway, running okay so far. Need to put in a new in-line fuel filter, but other than that all looks good. I do want to to a gear oil change (1000 miles) before doing much more scooting, but in general, hoping for a fun summer. Do have some lingering issues with the exhaust system, funny mesh "hoses" that don't want to stay clamped in the proper position.

Leaving one that long without starting the littl bit of gas in the carb bowl evaporates so it take some cranking to get the gas flowing and filling up the carb bowl. A way to prime a carb that has been sitting for a long time without having gas running through it is use the OVERFLOW hose that is at the top of the carb it is about 2 inchs long BENT down. Bend that up and pour about 1 1/2 oz of gas down it and then try to start it. Alleyoop

Wondered about that little tube -- was thinking that might be a place to squirt in some starter fluid. Fortunately, it appears I don't need to do that. Hope it continues to start and run well. Thanks, Alley.
