This tire project is quickly becoming a tire AND exhaust project, might as well since i have my muffler off, rite.....the new exhaust header came in the mail today, painted the header with a metallic gold color (this time i made sure it is a high temp paint, lol) also painted the muffler clamps: gloss black, they were corrosive. I once saw a Ducati with metallic gold headers & i thought it looked awesome

When attempting to mount tires, after sliding the tire on halfway, it is important to keep the inner edge of the tire tight against the center of the rim, which allows more space and play to slide the rest of the tire on.Large , Dull screwdrivers or tire irons help this process.
Also, use the grease on the tire edge and rim edge as it will not only make putting the tire on easier, but will help the tire to seat the bead during infaltion, and seal it tight against the rim. You should shake the rim away from you, while loosely holding the tire. This will cause one side of the tire to slide onto one side of the rim. Then, (you can set the rim on a coffee can to do this so that side does not get pushed off the collar of the rim) gently squeeze the outer tread of the tire, forcing the other bead onto the rim. Then hit it with a blast of air. The blast of air will force the tire out against the rim faster than air can escape around the minor leaks along the bead.
On a worn tire, you can tie a piece of nylon rope around the circumference of the tire, then insert a screwdriver in the rope and twist it, like a tourniquit, to expand the bead.
Soap evaporates, therefore negating this function, since the grease does not evaporate.

a 6 inch c clamp can also be used to hold the itre in place while using the tire tools to slip the opposite bead on.
