Won't hurt them as long as they aren't covered for too many days.
If they haven't come up yet it won't bother them at all.

I love taters--doctor says lay off of em..but I like em fried, boiled ,roasted, baked,Au Graten, tater soup, tater cakes, stuffed taters, with chili, cheese, avocado, butter, sour cream, bacon sprinkles, and topped with onions and chopped tomatoes---with another layer of sour cream on top---some salt helps with pepper...good cold glass of ice tea to wash it down---and a chunk of tenderloin won't hurt--yum

So JR,,,,do you purchase "seed" taters to plant or do you just cut them up and plant eyes?

I buy seed potatoes and cut the eyes and plant, even though it's been cold I expect my taters popping out of the ground soon.

I had to dig my taters early this year, started out well but with so much rain they were going to rot. Good crop just smaller than I like.
