My neighbor does bodywork and I do the mechanical work for him. He came up with a Lin Hai scooter in nice shape that does not run. It has some throttle issues. I ride motorcycles and am a fair mechanic, but know nothing about this machine. It has no markings except Lin Hai. I am struggling to get the body work off to get to the mechanics of this scooter.Do you have any online scematics or break downs of how this should come apart so I don"t break up any bodywork? Any way to I.D. what size it is? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys. If I get this one up and running he has a 81 Honda Express that his son in law tore apart that he will give me. Clean little Honda and it will be good for the kids to start on.

Sorry for the delay. My real job is driving a truck and it takes me away. You are right, the vin isLL8. I believe this is an Aeollus 50. It is a 2 stroke. Got it fired up and throttle sticks. After I get it to idle down it will run but then die like it's running out of fuel. I'm gonna check out the throttle cable and clean this carb out. Frog

Got this Lin Hai going and it is a nice scooter. I buzzed into town with it and on it's speedo was close to50! Everything works great, lights etc. What can we use for 2-stroke oil? I have some Spectro for dirt bikes but it's not sold around here anymore. The store in town sells Penzoil 2-stroke oil for general use. Would that be ok? What NGK plug will work in this? We are out in the boonies and the auto parts store doesn't have alot of information. Thanks for your help JR and I'm gonna drag that Honda express home and start on it soon. They said it had reed valve problem but took the head and barrel off. I thought the reed valve was in the intake manifold. Will probably contact you about that. Your board has been a great help.

Linhai is a fairly decent scooter... certainly a cut above the average Chinese efforts

Frog I have to confess two storkers are not my strong point and one can get in the oil debate quickly and I know a lot of guys like the Amosil and Lucas brands generally priced decent and available at a lot of auto parts stores and know what you mean on living in the booonies and not having a lot places to buy stuff. Some stick to dino oil and others swear by the synthetics and some by racing oils, heck on @t some even look for a bettrer smelling oil! LOL
Not sure on the plug but I'll look it up, did you get a manual for it? Should list the plug if you did.
