Greetings everyone--I just turned 75 last month and am a scooterist..Nice looking site ya got here JR--thanks for the invitation--I ride a 2008 Roketa MC 54 250 B,Silver in color--if a scoot can have a name,I call it 'Old Silver'--anyone with a Chinese scoot must see this forum and join up...I have about 4000 miles on my 250 B and most of my problems have been caused by crashing into a ditch...my top box was busted up pretty bad,and I have managed to patch it up enough to still use it,and one head light bracket was knocked loose..so I have had to rig a brace to keep it from bouncing around--I also changed the old OEM tires,Kendas out for some Avon Viper Strykes, which improved the ride considerably ---I have learned to maintain and keep the scoot almost trouble free by reading Jr's tips and fixes for Chinese scoots,on other forums and of course from other members ,that are scoot wise,as well--I hope I can add something of value as well--just call me fflinstone...ride on !!

Thanks for the welcome ,Jr,cruiser, glad I could come...don't know if wolfhound is got me by much, but isn't he about 82?anyhow,more power to the old rookies !!!!As for here,we just have been like you, suffering the worst heat wave in history,or at least in my history...I have seen it hotter, but not for as long a period...and I have insanely accepted a job as a cement truck driver,in the worst possible conditions for drivers or concrete workers--that stuff dries up faster than we can pour it sometimes,in this heat..oh well, you know the saying,if it don't kill you ,you will be stronger..I'm not sure about that myself--its 149 degrees in that truck--oh well, fun fun..glad to see you guys,I'll be checking in regularly now--Old Silver is gonna get a new rear tire this week end,and we should be set for the summer..ride on !!!ffintstone

Yea I kmnow what you mean! I'm having to water everything, well except I'm not watering the grass! LOL I get up at daylight and water up to say 10:00 a.m and then do what I can outside until about noon and then inside I go!
The weather has been funny for 3 years this year no exception, in May we had some 40 degree nights like to have washed away in April and then instead of it slowly warming up it instantly went to a blow torch! We neve have 100 degree days in June!
But I remember a worse summer 1980! Still holds the record for consecutive 100+ degrees days @ 45! It was a barn burner that year!

Welcome fflintstone:) I my not be the oldest rookie, but still a old rookie, I waited 40 years to get my motorcycle llicensed, rode motorcycles when I was young. My mother never wanted me to get one so I put my dream on the back burner, until I saw a scooter. passed my test in October 2010, got my 2008 250cc roketa in February 2011. (It was worth the wait!!!)
