I looked all through the forums and could not find any posts about this problem, if there is an answer somewhere that I missed please link me to it.
My scoot is a Znen ZN250T-D, it is a 2011 and has 190 mi on it. I just bought it from a friend that bought it new and had some electrical problems with it. He had repaired some of them and after I bought the scoot, I took off the plastics and re-repaired them. I took out the wire nuts that he used and did some soldering and heatshrink work to fix it correctly.
The fuel gauge is reading just over 1/4 tank and I filled the tank and the needle never moved (the needle drops down when the scoot is off but will only go up to indicate 1/4 tank). I traced the wires and found that one of the things he had done is cut the yellow/white wire going to the fuel level sensor and bypassed the connector. He butt connected this connection, but I cut the butt connector and soldered it back to the factory set up. I tested the connection and it is making good contact.
Even after fixing the connection, the gauge still won't read correctly. Any ideas or experiences relating to this problem?
Thanks for all the information that is passed around the boards, I have already used some to work on this scoot!

Can you take the gauge assembly out and make sure nothing is blocking it from moving to full position?
My daughter had an old Chrysler station wagon that never showed more than a quarter tank, even after filling. One day I pulled the float assembly out and it had somehow twisted the float wire so that it could not rise above a certain point.
Just a suggestion. My gauge and float in my scoot go directly into the side entry and nothing inside the tank could block it. Don't know if it could somehow be moved around to where it might get caught on a float frame piece. .

My system does the same thing occasionally especially if the scooter sits for a spell. I take a coat hanger and bend a 90 degree hook on it and slide it in the tank and gently raise up the float and it may not do it again for months, sometimes they get stuck.

Thanks for the insight both of you, I took the float assembly out as I already had the plastics off, and the clip that is on the float arm where it goes through the mount and pivots was too tight and was causing the arm to bind up. I pulled the clip away from the mount a tiny bit and she freed right up. The gauge works like a champ now.
Thanks again
