I was told I need a new engine for my Korean scooter but we can't import parts from Korea. I've had the engine replaced once (it was still under warranty) and they had no problem getting an engine that worked. So... are there any gearheads out there who would like to help a girl out?

Yes, year, make and model of the scoot a picture would help a lot to match it up with other scoots. Also what motor is on it, the motor is usually stamped on the motor by the sidestand right under the CVT COVER on the case. Also is it a 4 Stroke or 2 STROKE. Here is a picture of where you can find the type of motor it has. As you can see this scoot has a motor type of 1P39QMB and we know that motor is a 4 stroke. Knowing the motor type parts can be found for them. Also detail of what the problem is: And do not just say it won't start need to be detailed on what it does or does not do or what is not working. 1. Does your electric start work--meaning does it turn the starter. 2. Does the electric start crank the motor over but it won't start. 3. Did you check for spark by taking the spark plug out and or using a spare and holding it against the motor and cranking it to see if the spark plug is firing. 4. Did you check for fuel getting to the carb. 5. Does it start and idle. 6. Does it start and idle but will die when you give twist the throttle. You can answer some of the questions YES and NO and some give a detail explanation on what it does or does not do. Alleyoop

If it is actually Korean, it's probably a Hyosung. She should be able to get parts. I've gotten them for mine. There's a dealer out in Missouri and another somewhere in New England. I forget the names.
