I am glad I live in a sensible state. I have always hated daylight savings time whether in Ohio, California, Florida, Colorado, and other places I have lived. It seems stupid to have kids finally going to school in morning twilight and suddenly have them go to school in the dark. Why do we need to make daylight last so long in the evening? It is just man meddling with natures ways. Ridiculous activity.
Arizona is one of only a few intelligent states in the US when judging by the time. .

As for the reason for daylight it is suppose to conserve energy--they come up with a survey on the morning TV show suggesting it is not ,with people getting up before daylight and having to turn on the lights on to see how to get ready for work--I guess there are pros and cons--but if you are retired it don't matter-lol--go fishing at break of dawn, lie down at dark and get up with light ---my old grandpappy farmer did it every day-got up with the first light to go feed the stock-didn't care what time the clock had-but when I worked days and got off at 3 ,I had about 5 or 6 hours of daylight in the summer to do my stuff around the house or go get in some late fishing before dark..or get some scootin in --happy trails ,fflintstone

One very strange thing happened a few years back. Most states had tossed daylight savings time. Back in the 1950's many businesses had optional time for the employees, start earlier if you desired in certain months of the year. Then some jerk in our US Congress decided that all states had to be the same and restarted daylight time for every state with the option to opt out required. So to even out our time keeping when only a few states still honored daylight time this DC Congress made all states to be daylight savings time. Typical DC logic. Now we have a few that have officially tossed day light time.
When my kids were young and going to elementary school it was dark as can be in the morning. I or my wife would drive them to school. At that time the schools were two shifts for teaching. Half in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. It just was not safe for the morning shift children. It would have been bad even without the daylight savings.
Day light time really hurt the drive in movies. Families could not wait for 9 or 10pm before starting a two hour session of movies, cartoons, or what ever.
I say leave the clocks alone, daylight or not, and let people make up their minds just how they wish to live. As someone posted, their father worked as needed and had no concern about what the clock said. .

I guess you know that I was being sarcastic when I said 'happy daylight savings time'--lol--I agree, leave the clock alone,it is confusing enough now when you travel from 1 time zone to another and then ,in Indiana, there are 2 time zones, central time with daylight savings and without ,depending what part of Indiana you are in--I was there driving a truck back in late 90s and couldn't figure what time to put on the invoice and bill of lading,...the shipping clerk said not to worry,it is not time sensitive freight...well ok,but I was in Santa Claus Indiana and thought it was a little weird-heh--fflintstone
