It might be fine for an atv or small car but on a wheel with the bearings in the wheel I doubt if they would work in this one. I been using my bench vice to break the beads on the small scooters and the big one I take to a local bike shop. I got the last set of pirellis , bought and mounted for little more than the good price's at motorcycle super store on the net. You're right about it might be hard on bearings ,but the small shaft on the machine fits in the rear wheel ok,since there are no bearings ..I haven't tried the Harbor Freight machine yet,I made my own with some plywood and threaded rod and some nuts and big washers--only thing I don't have with that rig is the bar with the thingy to reach down under the bead and raise it up over the rim--it does hold the wheel, front and back wheels with no damage to the bearings but I haven't figured out how to make a bar to run around the bead and lift the tire out-if I can find a pic I will try to show you this redneck rig I got, maybe we can come up with an idea for the bar

I have never tried the Harbor Freight tire changer, but there are many posts out there that say that you need a special adapter to have it work for motorcycles and while that adapter used to be for sale it is not now.
