So, it's time for me to seriously look at upgrading the lights on my JCL 250. So, I'm looking at 6 total 1157 led's for my brakes and turn signals, then the 2 T10 side markers, and then the headlights (9004, correct?). Then, how bout the instrument panel lights? Or, added led strips to the trunk or elsewhere? The problem is that when I go to ebay, I am inundated with thousands of choices. I look and look, and stare some more, but then throw my hands up from too much info. Then, when I follow the old links from the previous thread on led's, the seller no longer exists. So, I'm asking you all for help. Any sellers you've had good experience with? Exactly what bulbs have worked for you? I am assuming the more led's the better, but then they throw in 1X and 4X and different wattages. Has anyone had to add the resistors to the 1157s? I assume the bike wouldn't know the difference like a car would. Any helpful info would be, uh, helpful?

Thanks, Alley. They look nice, especially the T10's.
How much did you gain in brightness?

Wow .... those T10's are screaming.... Nice..... I was thinking that was the headlight..... LOL so I was just about to post the same question..... I have picked up some LED light strips for just under the lip at the floor board. The JCL seems to be about the same as the YY250T as far a bulb count anyway.... How about the actual headlight bulb ? Also, has anyone added the fan indicator? We can address how to accomplish that later, but just need to get my bulb count together so I can place one order and be done. Like you said wheezy... I'm looking for about 10 minutes before I say heck with it.... I'm going to class and get it from the people that teach us. I too want to avoid resistors. oh.. did we mention licence plate led... not worried about brightness so much.... just that it's LED. I may need to start a spreadsheet to keep all this square in my head..... lol Thanks teach... bring ya the apple to tomorrow class.. promise... lol

Pondering it.... wow.... that's a LOT of juice savings... you probably could go to full out HID's for the headlights huh... What wattage could you bump up to? Or I guess the savings could also "pay" for many added LEDs...like the strips and such. The one thing i truly hated when riding my Vulcan at night for so many years, was visibility. Just the single 5X3 tail light. I bought this crazy mod that put a ring of red LEDs around your signal lights and would stay on till you hit the signal. They would also act as break lights and do a little strobe effect when first applying breaks. But, you had to run clear lens and change your signal bulbs to amber. Never got to it and found the kit unopened in all my motogear the other day. I may want to try pulling something off with that kit also. Many thanks to everyone for sharing your knowledge and bringing us freshman to a higher understanding!

Those are cool trailheadmike..... It took me a second to see they are LED. I was thinking i could maybe mount those under the bike to create a road effect. I think we have um all covered now. I'm gonna go look at mine now and see if there is anything on the licence plate or if it uses light from the other sources.
So the T5 wedge serves as the indicator lights as well as the speedo and tach back lighting? And 10 of them... shew.

Thx. Great info. Let me ask this.... Understanding you must disassemble to put these in, and I am doing my major PDI this weekend, does auto zone or pep boys have anything acceptable? Do not wanna tear this puzzle down twice.

Thanks, everyone. I think I may go with Alley's since A)they are insanely bright, and B)this seller still exists since at least 09. A little pricey compared to the cheapies from China, but there were alot of reviews stating no workie right from the package. Whid, I had been looking at all the parts stores in the area. No one had any led replacement bulbs except Pep Boys. Napa, Advance, and Autozone only carried either the led strips for custom jobs, or nothing at all. There were some trailer led supplies, but none seemed to fit the look I'm after. Pep Boys had some 1156 and 1157's in red, amber, blue, and white. They were only 12 led's, 1 Watt, and $9.99 apiece. They were branded with the name 'Pilot'. A big reason I skipped those was they only carried ONE of each. That would have taken months to get what I needed, without travelling to every Pep Boys around. This is what they look like: .ebay.com/itm/2-x-1157-AMBER-YELLOW-12-LED-BULBS-Rear-Tail-Stop-Parking-Lights-Turn-Signal-/281033426493?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416ee5c63d&vxp=mtr" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.ebay.com/itm/2-x-1157-AMBER-YELLOW-12-LED-BULBS-Rear-Tail-Stop-Parking-Lights-Turn-Signal-/281033426493?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416ee5c63d&vxp=mtr

No kidding... Bummer. Well I have noticed the difference in auto zones. Some seem like super auto zones.... Like walmart. Lol. I kid u not, and I will snap a pic when I go after work, the a.z. on baseline across from mills mall, had so many, I didn't know where to start. Swear it.! So, I'm headed there after work to pic up a round of 1156-57's. I looked close in the light, and the bulbs are actually scribed on the clear outer covers. They are the OEM part # tho. Was hoping to find a nice conversion chart online but.....notta.

Jrr,did you put the xenon white bulbs in to replace the brake light bulb or did you use the red led bulbs--reason I ask,I stuck some red leds in mine and they don't seem very bright ,like maybe the white ones might be...thanks,fflintstone
