I took the variator fan off and left the belt on metal axle. Next day I woke up to work on the clutch side when I found this rubber ring laying on garage ground.
Do you know where the rubber ring with a circle in it go on the variator side? I didnt see it come off but I am thinking it goes right behind the variator fan.
Any ideas?

Only rubber ring behind the Variator is your CRANK OIL SEAL. Now it must be that someone put TWO CRANK OIL SEALS on the crank otherwise you would have OIL all over the place(HAHA). But this is what the OIL SEAL LOOKS LIKE: Alleyoop

The rubber ring actually goes after you put the variator on so grease does not leak onto the shaft and get to the belt.
