I have a 2011 TaoTao CY-50 49cc. Recently It stoped working,it ran good for about 500 miles.First thing that happend to it was the head light went out but the high beam still worked a few days later it went out,so I put a new halogen one in and it worked good for about 3 weeks. One thing I did notice was after a while when I would stop it seemed like the head light would get dim and when I would start going it would get really bright. It has not been running for about 3 weeks it started 2 times with the kick start and the starter works but it wont start it.now the kick starter wont start it.any suggestions. Also will 50cc and up parts work with my scooter.

First Welcome scootalong, Good to have you on the forum. Now the lights work off the battery so the charging systems on scoots are marginal to say the least. And yes when at idle or low rpms the lights will dim that is because the HEADLIGHTS draw a lot of juice. And they will get bright as you get the rpms up or while your riding.
Now about the starting problem: 1. Is this a 4 stroke or 2 stroke and how many miles on it. 2. If a 4 stroke have you adjusted the valves. 3. If not that is the first thing to do is adjust them both to .003 inchs you can get a Feeler Guage at any auto parts store and make sure the set has a feeler gauge that has a .003 or .004 feeler gauge in the set. 4. Have you checked for fuel flow: A. take the fuel line off the carb and put it in a container and crank the engine over and FUEL SHOULD FLOW. B. If it doesn't flow then take the Fuel Filter off and try it again, If it flow this time then you know your fuel filter is CLOGGED and you need a new one. C. If it STILL doesn't flow with the Fuel Filter off then take the VACUUM HOSE going to the PETCOCK and suck on it and see if FUEL FLOWS if it doesn't then you need a new PETCOCK. D. IF Fuel flows to the CARB then it is time to take the carb off and clean out the PILOT JET and ITS PASSAGE.
Give me some detail info on what changes if any you have on the scoot or what you have done or tried. Alleyoop

Welcome scootalong. I moved your second post about your starting problem to a new thread because you posted under someone elses thread. Even though the problem may be similar, the solution may not. By keeping the threads unique, you will be able to track the results for your problem and not be confused by other members answering the OP's question. Here's your new thread: thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=chineseclassroom&action=display&thread=1991
