Hey. I am hoping for a little help please. I bought a 08 used linhai main street scooter recently. It had 3700 miles on it. The bike is a 8 out of 10 cosmetically and the motor (when running) is super strong with plenty of power. My problem is it will run beautifully for 2 or 3 hours then the idle will get real low then it will die. It will fire right up usually but run real low on idle and will die when giving it even a little throttle. I have noticed that at times when coming to a stop the motor will be revving fast and take a little while to slow to a normal idle. This is when the problem usually starts. I also notice a very slight stumble in the motor. I have adjusted the idle and fuel mixture screws and it will just purr. Is it possible the mixture screw is not staying put?. This bike runs like a champ when is going right. The fuel filter appears to be good as there is a good flow thru it. The cdi appears to be functioning properly. There is no visible vacuum loss that I can tell. I need this bike to be dependable, I paid $1500.00 for it and have put new tires on it and it is registered. All I need is it to be dependable. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Classic valve adjustemnt symptoms. At those miles it's needing them adjusted. We have a how to in the tech section and you'll be amazed at how much better it'll run after they are done. Also welcome to the forum. JR

I completely stripped the bike. put new fuel and vacuum lines in, Checked and corrected all electrical connections (Some were a little loose), adjusted the carb idle and mixture, checked all bolts etc, Took manifold off and found a couple of very small cracks and repaired them with Mr Gasket silicone gasket maker, Bought a trickle charger and let the battery charge for 2 days on it, Took the variator cover off to examine my belt and was surprised that it appeared new, Changed fuel filter, Done a few various things, Put her back together and have put around 30 miles on it so far with no problems so far. Keeping my fingers crossed. I have a new cdi ordered just for the heck if it just in case it was the culprit all along. This bike is super strong. I am amazed at the power of this 300 cc engine. It will get away from you if you don't watch out.

300cc is half a sports bike! Even my 260cc (257cc), pulls away from most cars at a stoplight, and is about even on climbing on a hill, or at surpassing other cars at highway speeds.
For me, it makes very little sense to buy a 50cc scoot, especially since they are limited in speed. For $200 get a motorcycle endorsement and you can go on any bike. Then, for city driving I think a 150cc would have been enough! It even goes on the highways on short runs. For longer highway runs with 2 people, you'll need at least a 300cc!
But if you want to save on gasoline, for the small trips, in the city a 125-150cc is the sweet spot!
