Hi All,
I have a shenke sl250 - Honda clone engine, Honda Reflex clone body, yada, yada.
I was ridding home today and as I went into a left hand turn and hit the brakes the back end did this weird little shimmy that freaked me out. So I tested it on the way home and it seems fine on the straight and narrow but in curves the bike gets a little weird, not uncontrollable but just strange.
So I get home but the scoot up on its center stand to look at the brakes. well my rear wheel seems to have a lot of play left and right on the axle line 3/8 of an inch or so. This doesnt seem right. It also has some lateral play for and aft and up and down but I could not really measure it. Anyway, it there an acceptable amount of play and if not is there a way to remove it?
I lover my scoot and so far its been a real trooper, I just want to take care of her and keep her happy.
Thanks, Sean

Are you saying it will move side to side about 3/8"? It's not supposed to do that, you need to check the main axle nut and make sure it's tight.
Also there should be a spacer to keep the wheel from moving side to side so make sure it's still there.

If your rear wheel is wobbling, then tighten the axle nut.
As for the engine wobble, check the through bolt that supports the engine at the crankcase.
I had a bad engine side to side shift and after going through what was more then necessary, I though about it and maybe all I had to do was tighten the bolt.

I have no wheel play in any direction on my scoot. Please do all of the suggestions above as it sounds like something serious could happen especially if something is getting loose.

OK, I went and got a wrench (21mm) that I didnt have, tightened up the nut. It was very loose. No more play in the wheel. I will take it for a test drive tomorrow and let you know how it turns out. Thanks everybody for your concern and advice.

Take the nut off, apply loctite blue (not red) and reinstall the nut.
This will ensure that it will not loosen up again with allowing you take it off when needed.
