Ok I have been trying to find information on issues caused by improper valve adjustment.
I think it would be a great addtion to the tech area when I find out for my issue.
I would like to know.

Intake and or Exhaust being too TIGHT= Loss of compression because they are a little open and NOT sealing. Intake being too LOOSE= Will not open fully and long enough to suck in enough Air and Fuel. Exhaust being too LOOSE= Same holds true but in this case not enough exhaust is being allowed to escape out the pipe so it is like putting a rag up your cars exhaust. In all cases Loss of power hard starting if enough out of adjustment no starts. Alleyoop

Hey Todd, JR was helpful when I asked the same question. I put it so anyone can view it not just the 250 cc riders.

BTW Todd I just adjusted my valves tonight. Need to put the side panels on in the morning and check for any leaking oil from the exhaust valve. Then it's out for a ride as I know just when this baby wants to stall. Hopefully all will go well. I post on it.

Valve job went great. I read on another forum that a guy did his valves on the same engine in 15 minutes. That's a load of crap. Getting the nut tight on the exhaust valve isn't so easy as you need tiny hands. I just hope I got it tight enough.
Took it out this morning and where it would stall on a daily basis the engine was running perfect.

I take the Bottom side off on the Left side and there is a access panel on the left side as well just below the seat and I use that to line up the Cam Sprocket and then adjust the valves. The time consuming part is taking the bottom panel off about 15 screws. Alleyoop

Alley, on the 250 54B you have the intake valve on the top and the exhaust on the bottom. Plus you need to remove the bottom side panels to drop the floor board under the scooter and remove 3 bolts which 1 is hard to get at without using a 8 mm wrench. Some say they can do it without removing the spark plug, but that is a hit and miss way for sure.

Yes, on the 250s the top valve you can get from the top but a PITA to get at the Exahaust Valve. To bad you do not have the engine with the Adjustments on the outside of the head. They should make them ALL like that, that would be sweet. Next time I will do just that drop the bottom panel and roll the front wheel onto a ramp and it will be even easier. I know there are two screws in front behind the wheel and two BOLTS toward the rear holding the entire bottom panel. That would be easier than 15 screws to take the bottom side off(HEHE). Alleyoop
