Hi all I tried to open the URL bill.laudeman.com/helix/manual/index.html and it tells me the site is no longer available, in fact some other motor cycle concern took the web site over.
My question is what happened to the wealth of info and the excellent service manual that was honda 250 helix service manual, is it lost or is there another way of re-opening it?

Scootaway, you should have known that this forum had what you needed. JR, you are the man! I can't count the times you (and others, Alley, Cruiser, Damin, Rapid Jim plus many more) have given advise that I may not post about BUT I do read and learn from. Thank all of you folks! Scootaway, Aren't you the one that had a visit to the US not long ago that we suggested a "Snuggies" to? If so, I remember you had a wonderful time on that trip. (Even if you froze your butt off in warm temps.) I would like to be the first to say "Welcome as as new member of this country" but sorry to say it's not run all that great anymore. MHO only. M/C

haha thanx madcollie and yes this forum did suggest a "snuggies" that funny sleeping attire in which you can easily choke to death. Thanx JR i will be on leave as of next week so I plan some major service for the Jonway. The rollers must be shot because they have done 15000 miles.

Why are sliders better? I also wonder if I should change the weight. Currently if I move along at say 70mph the motor is doing around 5600 rpm and ideally I would like that to come down. Should I go for slightly heavier sliders and what weight do you suggest. I only weigh about 158 pound (72 kg's)

WOW!! 70mph at 5600 rpms that is FANTASTIC!! You can adjust at what rpms you want to run at by the gram weights that you put in.
ROLLERS= 500-600 RPMS up or down for every gram SLIDERS= 200-350 RPMS up or down for every gram
So if your current weights say are 22grams and your at 70mph at 5600 and you put in 23 gram weights your RPMS will be around 5000 at 70mph.
But you have to watch that you do not go to heavy otherwise your take off speed and mid-range speeds will be sluggish. Alleyoop

Scootaway since you're only hitting 5600 RPM @ 70 MPH I would go to sliders at one gram lighter. Here is a video from our video tech library explaining how sliders work; thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=genvideo&action=display&thread=384Now this is just sales mumbo jumbo they actually do exactly what the video says. Myself I ride in the hills and I dropped two grams, results were no loss in top end just by their design and a lot better take off and pulling power up the hills. Now what would you expect at one gram lighter? Better take off acceleration and a touch more top end while at the most raising your RPM by 300. In fact since the variator will close a little tighter and push the belt out a little farther you may not even hardly notice much of a RPM increase at all. If you go two grams lighter then the most you'll see at 70 MPH is 6K RPM's. I do 70 MPH at about 6100 RPM but man when I hit those old hills she pulls so much better. Also sliders are self lubricating and don't need the messy grease. JR
