EDIT 29.5.12
guys
just to let you know SHE RUNS did like i thought and what u all recommended just checked all ground line and cleaned 'em up
she started 1st push like always
what i think it might have been is the blck/ wht 'kill switch' wire might have pulled a lil bit loose
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS
Hi everyone sorry i havent kept ya all up on whats going on. but just nothing new to say
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY THANK A VET AND SAY A PRAY FOR THOSE NO LONGER WITH US
but now i need a lil help
a friend took chrissy for a ride the other day and had a small wreck. nothing bad but he did say she was on her side for like 20 mins. anyways
now she wont start. heres the weird thing when u turn the key on the gas gauge works so there is a lil battery power. but when i pull the brake (either one) in to hit the start button the gauge drops, like there is a short.
now to tell u more of the story i couldnt go get her for a full 24 hours so i took a spare battery, which i had on the charger to take with me. when i went to get chrissy there was liquid on the top of the battery that was charging { not sure if wasnt condensation from a pipe dripping onto it} or what.
so i tried with the original battery and the newly charged one
same results
gas gauge works until u pull in brake handle then it drops like a rock. no anything tried to jump solenoid --nothing
i know---i know check all wires etc. put i just pushed her home 5 miles, both ways and its 91 degrees
god dang im a tough woman aint i ? and i will check all wires etc but i was hoping someone would say something so i dont go nuts something like, idk, recharge original battery, its the regulator or anything else.
u original members know how bad i am at tracking electrical probs.
so help

It is time to get your meter out and make some measurements. You could have a bad ground. A short is going to make some thing smoke or blow a fuse. Measure around the solenoid, both sides with and with out trying to start it. A high resistance ground could allow the gas gauge to work untill you try to start.

read the battery voltage at the battery not connected and report back . Have you tried to kick it started ?
Pics of the damage would help .

john no damage at all just wont start
no havent tried to kick start i never kicked ever.
JCT i reallly think its the solenoid, like u mentioned i will be testing the volts and resistance maybe tonight if the furry kids just hang out now they havent been out today at all so their needs come 1st
ill will post more when i find things out
thanks john and jct
i need to get the time w/o the kids being out so i can take my laptop out to the garage and follow ALL the electrical tests in the library

First of where in the name of sam have you been? You know this is how rumors get started! And yes you are one tough mama and word is mean as all get out too! Ok you've already got some good advice so strip Chrissy to a pint you can see and work on her. Now take the volt meter and set it on DC and let's check the battery, either one and you know we need a good solid 12.5 Vdc or better. If it has to be charged then fine but let it sit cold for one haour after charging and if the voltage is a good 12.5 or better then she's good to go. Now the grounds sound like the first place to start Terrilee cause if you got a hot battery and a bad ground then what is happening is when you push the start button then the circuit must have a good positive connection and of course a good ground or negative connection. since you crossed the starter solenoid then my bet is the ground and since it won't start when you engage it then it's loading up so bad that it pulls even the gauge down. Do check your fuse/s and check the battery connections on the red cable on the battery, starter solenoid all the way to the starter. Then check the black negative ground wire from the battery to where it hooks up on the frame and gose to the engine. I'm betting on a bad connection since it fell over. And young lady quit loaning Chrissy out to people who will not give her the TLC that you do! As always we are here for you. JR

JR
i will start doing what u say 1st thing in the morning.
where have i been ??
all the pressure of my upcoming legal probs. the stupid court appointed attorney , who i filed a pre trail motion to dismiss, & awaiting word on that from the judge. ( he has to allow it at least once, its the FREAKING law)
being off my meds (ill explain if u really need to know)
just pressure , PRESSURE & MORE PRESSURE
so i sleep a ton, do very little and stay off the net!!!!!!!!
life sucks but there's nothing to be done with that
and well, i need a couple things, and i just ddint wanna go in public so thats why i left my friend take Chrissy, THAT WONT HAPPEN AGAIN , EVER no matter what i feel like.
OH JR ONE MORE THING did u notice where i said the gas gauge works until i pull in the brake lever then it sinks like a rock
not sure if that means anything

The battery negative probably does not have a good connection to the frame/engine ground

Yes I did Terrilee and again I'm like the rest I feel like you've totally lost your ground connection, may have happened with the fall. What it appears is when you press anything the circuit is trying to find ground and it causes things to go goofy and that happens when you lose ground. Other than that you would have some wires crossed but don't worry, we're here and when you feel better tomorrow or when ever we'll be here to help. No I won't ask about things you don't want to discuss I was a kidding with you and trying to lift your spirits, it sucks when someone tears up your stuff no matter what it is. Also we missed you! JR

Hi Terri! Good to see another familiar face on this board!
Sounds to me like you have a loose ground. Time once again to pop off the tupperware and check connectors.
Good luck!
