Todd, take a good look at your coil then. Mine has two thin spade connectors and one mounting bolt which mounts to the frame. Looks nothing like the one Cruiser posted, but who knows with the Chinese they continue to change parts and wire colors. JR has the same scooter as I have and his headlight wires are just the reverse of mine for bright and dim. Go figure. Here is a picture of my coil.

It is 100% like the one I posted the exact one I need. I am going to post pictures of the coil off scooter so you can see I am not out of my mind. This is identical to the one off my dads Linhai Mainstreet 260.... It is NOT identical to my Jonway.

Todd, I didn't insinuate you didn't know what coil you needed. I just was trying to point out mine is different and to take a good look at yours before ordering.

Speed is yours a Linhai 257cc with that coil? Makes me wonder if even though they look different that maybe they could be swapped back and forth with the wires hooked to the right turminals.
I ask this cause The style your scooter has is the same as my Jonway Honda 244cc motor.

Todd, My scooter the 54B Roketa has the Linhai 257cc engine in it, that is why I mentioned how the coils looked different.

Well I feel like a bafoon now......LOL I thought all of the Linhai used that one I posted a pick of. My Roketa and my Dads Linhai both use the 2 bolt mount set up. Now mind you the 2 bolt style Coil that Scrappy sells for the VOG260/Linhai is not the same as the one I have in the picture. But now really has me intrested in what the Connections out between the 2 style coils is and if by chance they could not be interchangeable..

Damin: My first post; I haven’t even got a scooter ( on order). If you haven’t got the problem fixed, go back to you first post, “So top end rebuilt.” Your problem is text book; when a top end is rebuilt I’ll bet my left one that you don’t have enough valve clearance. I know I might be preaching to the choir for a lot of you but when you have a fresh top end, new engine or new scooter, the new valves, against the seat, will start off with a high point. It’s not that the valve doesn’t seal; but it sets in a bit after some run-in making the .006” clearance maybe .005”. This effect is less with more precision made engines (Japan) and maybe more so with not so precise (China). This is why China scoots need a valve adjust after a few thousand miles. Second, the engine may start well cold but when the engine heats up the valves expand which means the valve stem lengthens so now your .006” clearance is maybe .002” (which is why you have some gap in the first place), but if you started with only a .003” clearance you end up with ZERO and then it starts holding the valve slightly off its seat. It starts and runs well cold but then starts chugging when hot. If I’m wrong than I’ll have to start betting with my right one. Ride On! Ironwire.

Good advice, ironwire. Welcome to the forum. You should log into the new students section when you get your new scoot. We would like some pix and if you have any questions, we will do our best to answer them.
