Hey all.... I haven't been on the forums much the past week or so. If anyone cares.... I Had a serious accident. A Young girl (maybe 13 years old) and I hit each other. I was heading out to grab a bite to eat and get a haircut on a really nice Sunday afternoon. Well, I cut through the neighborhood like usual and all the sudden a Young woman on her bicycle was in front of me. I ended up plowing into her rear wheel. We both went flying and the drama ensued...... I regret not having the Police involved. Let me explain, I had full gear minus a helmet on and entered a T intersection. (now this is a street I travel daily and go slow cause of the children playing) All the sudden a young lady was in front of me with no time to brake.. I hit her as she ran a stop sign, and Chaos ensued. Suddenly I am woken up and I asked what happened...... I look around and see a child on the ground with like 6 other people saying "don't move her", Call the Ambulance etc... I was literally in Shock. Someone asked me for my information so I pulled out my license and insurance card then, They just walked away never to be seen again. Looking back now that didn't seem to legit but I digress.... I didn't realize I was hurt, as I was worried about the child but, My scoot layed in the middle of the street leaking gas still running when someone said "Go turn your shit off" Not my first accident so, I said I will not touch ANYTHING till the Cops get here. The Police were never called... I remember a woman yelling ( How many times have we told you not to come racing down that hill!!!!!!) Anyway Long story short, Suddenly I was congratulated for not leaving the accident and the family went inside...... I gathered up my wits and headed home. Today I assessed the damage on my 50cc scoot. Looks like I need a new front end. Cracked fender and 2 bent forks. I may have bent the tree too. The Doc says I have 2 cracked ribs and lots of bruises and road rash. I went back to the house this morning ( just to see the condition of the girl and offer to buy her a new bicycle) but, Nobody would open the door. I know someone was home as I could here them yelling. It was an Accident and I wont place blame. (Even though the child ran a stop sign) I am in Pain myself and my gut tells me the child may have a broken limb......( I pray that's not true) I just wanna do whats right. I am not looking for pitty or anything I just wanted to share me experience. Thanks for reading. I'll let ya know how it goes.

Sorry to hear about your mishap, bong. You're right in that the police should have done a report on this. I always ride with a cell phone not only for personal comms but mainly for emergencies. You would have been justified using 911 to cover yourself and the girl. Hope everything goes OK and you feel better fast. Get scootin' soon.

Thanks for the support guys and gals. Quick update------ This morning i did a little digging to see exactly what I need as far as repairs go. I can live without the front fender but, The right fork when compressed won't come back up like it should. Making for an uneven/ squrily ride. Should I just replace or is there a way to fix? ? Also, I finally picked up a cheapo 20$ camera so if I can figure out how I can post pics. Right now, When ya hit the front brakes or just sit on the scoot the fork compresses and takes around 5-10 minuets to release instead of popping back up like normal the Left side seems OK so if anyone has any ideas I'm all ears!!!! BTW, I went back to the seen of the accident for the third time now (just to make myself feel better by trying to do what's right) and still no answer when knocking on the door.......

Bong, sorry to hear about your accident. You're being very kind in trying to find out about the child's well being and I think that may have the parents a little worried that your looking to get them to pay for your medical expenses for repairs to the scoot. IDK
Glad to hear your not in worst shape and I know how a broken rib feels (healing 1 right now myself) without the road rash or bruises.
Don't take chances with that front end. If it's bent or shot then I'd replace. Just MHO. Fix yourself first, scoot second and find out about child third, if possible.
And for god's sake man, ride safe.

This is a tough one indeed Bong. My question is could you not still report this to the police? Also was there indeed a ambulance called and did they pick up the child? If so they made a report for sure.
This is not a matter of trying to get money out of them but a matter of finding out how the child is and finding out how they reported it? If they did pick the child up on a public road at a accident I don't see how the police could not be involved? I know here that if a ambulance goes to s scene of an accident on a public highway and the police are not there they call them themselves?
Hang in there my friend and name and model of scooter and we'll start looking for parts. I may need pictures and some measurements to confirm correct parts.

Sounds like a bent fork tube. I had a fork tube straightened at a machine shop after a minor accident with good results. This was on a motorcycle which has a much stronger front end than a scoot because of the two sets of triple trees (upper and lower) which are used to hold the fork tubes. Scoots use only one triple tree to hold on to the end of the fork tube. I would replace the triple tree even if you can straighten the fork.

To answer your questions JR------- After the initial Hullabaloo, the little girl stood up on her own and the family sat her down, brought out some Peroxide and bandaged her scrapes. So nobody ever called the EMS or Police. Just a lot of paniced yelling and initial confusion. Then the young lady seemed OK. In hind site we should have. I don't expect any type of compensation just peace of mind. My insurance took care of 90% of my doctor visits (2 cracked ribs from the handle bars and a bit of road rash) I just worry a bit cause if I was going fast enough to bend a fork..... I know her bicycle is in need of repair too. Maybe the Girl as well??? Anyway as for the scoot.. It's just an average sunny style 1p39qmb (BD50QT-3) I think i saw replacement forks on scrappys site but, I have yet to come across the front fender. Ill take some pics today or tomorrow to show ya the damage.

I'll do some looking Bong. I know how this feels. This is kind of like the thing that happens to big wheel truckers at times, the old it's always the truckers fault. It doesn't matter that someone decided to turn left with a right blinker on a 18 wheeler loaded and at 80k lbs. is supposed to be able to stop on a dime and the trucker is always speeding and it's their fault.
I never had an appreciation about this until I had a short 2 year spell of driving a big rig and now I know how they feel.
In your case it was a kid on a bicycle and you're the big bad guy on a speeding and dangerous scooter. I'm sure the little girl didn't do what she did on purpose, as most people for sure don't do things to inflict injury and hopefully since she did indeed walk away she will learn a valuable lesson too?
For you it's kind of like the drunk driver that runs over someone and doesn't get a scratch but yet leaves other people hurt or dead. You're riding your scooter, child runs the stop sign, walks away, and you're left with a messed up scooter and broke ribs and bills.
Sometimes it just doesn't seem like life is fair but I'm truly grateful you're OK, and will heal.
As I said I'll start looking for parts.

I REALLY appreciate the effort JR. I'm waiting for the "little pink" camera's battery to charge. (That's a inside joke nobody on the forums will get but, I laugh so all pics will be tagged "Pink Camera") Your assessment of the situation is spot on but I don't expect life to be fair....... It is what you make of it..... Life happens, It's all about how you deal with what's thrown at you. The loritab is kicking in now so I may take a nap or take some pics
