Hey guys, got into CVT. What a mess. Got nut off clutch, but could not compress it to get drive belt off have some purple around bell, but the clutch is so hard to work the pulley part Is that normal had to take the variator off to get belt off. (Belt looks good, roller weights have some flat spots, going to replace them, my main concern is that clutch, could that spring be bad because of heating up or is the clutch bad Attachments:

Richard are you talking about opening up the clutch face plates so the belt will go farther down in the pulleys to easily remove the belt without renmoving the variator? If so then yes thay are stiff and I've found if you can kind of slightly twist it some as you pull on the outter pulley it will compress outward easier. The inside shaft may need some lubrication like a very thin coat of a good lithium grease but not much! Gets on the belt and face then it's a mess then! Here is a video from our tech section to show you how to take it apart so you can clean it and grease it. thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=genvideo&action=display&thread=379JR

Yes I tried to compress the pulley to remove the belt, but it would not budge so I had to take the variator off, after getting clutch off and a little wd40, it started open and shut, but seems very tight, do you think the spring is ok? and the belt seem very tight on the pulley before taking it off, should I take the clutch pulley apart and lubricate it? The roller weights seem to have very little ware, should I replace them. So do you think my clutch pulley be alright with some work? What is a good cleaner to get all that grease out off the cvt, brake cleaner doesn't seem to work very good

When using breaker bar I broke off one of the fins on the slide face of the variator where can I buy a variatior fan for my scoot I will take the pulley apart and lubricate tonight after work hoping that will help. Hoping the bearing isn't bad

Thanks Alleyoop, I'm broke one fin I don't know if that would make a difference if you would run it that way?

Break the other fin across from it so that it is still pretty well balanced until you get a new one. Alleyoop

NO absolutely not. I'll find one Richard and I wouldn't run it at all with a damaged fan plate. JR

So many people Richard claim parts for trhe linhai and when you get them they are the other 250 the Cf moto stuff.
I would make sure Scrappy guarenteed it's for the linhai and comfirm the measurements. People also assume VOG 260 = same as 257 linhai but on this clutch there is two different sizes.

What would you measure a cross the bell housing <---------------------->, I'ver seen guy's remove their belt by turning as they sqeeze and then it locks so you can take the belt off, what makes it lock?

Geeeeeze Oh Man, Richard! I'm gone for a few weeks and look what you've gotten yourself into. <jk> I have always found that when in doubt, replace the part and you know you've eliminated that part of the problem. I hope you get your scoot fixed soon. Riding weather is almost upon us. Ernie
