[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]According to the electrical diagram, all the Black wire is hot wire - the only reason for that particular wire to NOT spark when touching the frame is that it is the downstream end of the connection from the Thermostatic switch. If I read my diagram aright.

[replyingto=ellpee]ellpee[/replyingto]Yes, the temp gauge does work - in fact, that's what got me started on this quest to begin with. All of a sudden, I had no fan and the temp gauge would run just about to the top, especially on the highway. And when I got to my driveway, there would be no fan after the Kill Switch - which it otherwise almost always did. So I either have a loose wire, somewhere, or a bad connection, somewhere, or a bad fan (I KNOW where that is) or the thermostatic switch is fubar. Fuses are all good - so that's what I'm left with.

I have a 2011 Jonway YY250T and the fan has stopped working. I got on my creeper, laid down next to the bike and reached my hand in through the front of the machine, on the right hand side, only to find a loose Black wire in there.
From what I have seen, Black wire is 12V supply - could it be that this wire (it has a largish round connector on the end - unlike ANOTHER black wire in the same area which has a plastic piece over the end of the wire - obviously NOT intended to be connected) is the supply wire for the fan? I was cut short in my efforts to trace things farther, besides, the system was rather warm and I didn't want to go exploring where I can't see and might burn something - like me, for example. Oh. And I do NOT want to take the plastics of the machine if I don't have to.

If there is anything at all about Chinese Scooters that I have found really confusing, it's trying to get accurate information regarding engines.
I am interested in knowing what the difference is (especially in the variator) between a CN250 and a CF250 engine.
I am trying to get accurate information as to what size (diameter) the variator should be - and I ain't having much luck.
Can someone help?

I agree that it's most likely the variator. The thing is, that grease mentioned earlier in the thread probably should NOT be there. The variator should be DRY inside - that awful black sticky stuff the Jonway's come with is just wrong. Get some brake cleaner at the Auto Parts Store and clean out the inside of the variator - and that includes the rollers. All you should see inside of a variator is metal and nylon. NO GREASE. You'll need an impact wrench to get the variator off - and while you're at it, take the bell off the clutch, at the back, and check the shoes in the clutch. Make sure they're not glazed. The variator needs a 19mm socket - the clutch needs a 17mm - an impact wrench makes what is otherwise a hard job, easy. I use an 18volt, battery powered wrench - a Ryobi. Works like a charm.

Do you know of a link to a video that shows the process for undressing one of these buggers?

Thank you JR< Cruiser and Alleyoop - I already feel welcome here. That said, I'll be changing fluids in the next day or so and I need to track down a loose connection that has my running lights fubar - but other than that, I am ready to ride.

Thank you, cruiser. I will give that a whack, tonight. I gotta get my ride on the road.

Given that I have a 2011 Jonway yy250t also - and I have exactly the same symptoms; i.e., running lights (headlights, taillights, gauge lights, etc.) flickered and went out while running, I need to know what's necessary to take off in order to get to the R/R. Or do I have to make the whole scoot naked?

Thank you for the welcome. The PDI is done - I'm in the process of doing a "hard break in". The picture in this message is right after I got done putting it together and I'd actually started it for the first time. Attachments:

I have a brand new 2011 (less than a week since delivery) YY250T - the Jonway version of the MC54-250B. This is my first motorized two wheeler in 5 years - I sold my Honda VT100 Shadow a few years back and I always kind of regretted losing the freedom of two wheels and the wind.
I'm old enough to retire - but I won't. Not yet. I will ride this scoot to and from work - it's my way of fighting high gas prices.
