Hello all, I started out with a Tank 50cc (new) then went to a Roketa 150cc (used), and for the last few years I have had a used (2008) ZNEN 250cc.
The znen 250cc (250T something) (CFMOTO 244cc I suspect) .... has been fairly dependable. Bear in mind, I bought it used back in 2010.
Also apart from doing things like an oil change ... I am not very mechanical, however, I am discovering that I do have "ability", it's just that I never took time to learn, til now that is.
In the morning I am going to pop in a new battery (battery drains, maybe due to after market extra cooling fan that turns on via toggle switch), but the battery is old, especially for extreme desert climate (110 to 116 degrees).
The desert eats batteries. So ... I have a new one, trickle charging that now.
Next thing is ... the scoot has been overheating, mostly at stop lights. Not red lining unless I go for a period of time longer than say 30 minutes.
I am going to drain the coolant and flush and replace with new coolant. Also I have a new thermostat ... because the mechanic/s told me that they suspected that it needed it. So ... what the heck. (the scoot was in the shop for electrical wiring fixes, the desert is rough on wiring too).
While I am at it ... I might as well do an oil change too!
I admit I am not totally sure about draining the coolant but I have done that with old cars, this is usually pretty straight-forward stuff, and I think I can locate where the thermostat goes.
I've done a few oil changes on this scoot, so no worries there.
My scoot now has over 5k miles on it. When I bought it ... it had .. about 1k miles on it. It has been dependable over all. I use it and the bus system interchangeably and I currently do not own any other form of transportation except a bicycle. I've been on the highway with it twice but won't do it again because it won't go over 80 mph and here in the Phoenix area people drive over 90 mph and I think it is rough on the scoot, especially here, especially in the summer. I just use the surface streets now.
Well that should be more than enough of an intro ... haha... I do love scooting though.
