So a little update. I just got back from riding around for almost an hour. Acceleration was perfect, top speed was between 70-75, ran smooth as silk..... And the noise was gone when I was driving. The noise is only apparent while idle. I even ducked my head down under my windshield so I could hear the engine purring clearly and no noises out of the ordinary. As soon as I came to almost a complete stop, I hear the noise again...... Que?

Ok so I feel pretty dumb at the moment.... If this is the problem I hope it didn't cause damage. There was almost no gear oil that drained out when I opened the drain. Ugh.

Well it wasn't the valves. I recorded the sound. If anything it sounds like its coming from the gear area. Definitely not on the engine itself

Going to try a valve adjustment tonight. Is there any rule of thumb when moving these things or just... move it till is stops tapping?

Yeah the manifold is one of the things I replaced with the new muffler system. After listening to the noise more closely, it sounds like it's originating more on the left side of the engine towards the top. Is that where the valves are?

Heard from a couple people this could simply be the valves tapping. Now if only I had any clue how to adjust those lol ..... Someone pass me the greenhorn Viking helmet

Sounds like it is leaking by where your header pipe connects to the motor. Check that first before you go tearing the thing apart. Alleyoop Apologies but that's still a bit Greek to me No idea what the header pipe looks like. I'm gonna go all 4 year old on you again and ask.... Have any pictures by chance? Or maybe just point it out on here? site.scootertronics.com/CF250.pdf

Good lord that looks like a project and a half. Heh. Might just cut my losses and sell this thing for what I paid for it and keep my lithium iron battery.

Would that really be the case when this thing only has 3000 miles on it? I mean I know these Chinese scooters are cheap, but for something that serious to go wrong already? Sheesh.... last time I buy one of these. Actively trying to sell this thing now.... Sucks because I was so excited to use this for my commute for a long time.

Yeah it does sound like a knocking but it's been pretty steady as to how loud it is. How do I check that bearing?
