Swap out the rect 1st, see if that doesn't solve it. Swapping out the stator requires a special tool to remove the flywheel and is a more expensive part.

Ordered me a fresh jug n slug, and 2 belts. Should be here by next Monday, per John @valleyscooters. I've dealt with his stuff before, good products. Looking forward to getting my shiny Craftsman socket set all dirty n greasy! Yes, he WILL still honor these discounted prices shown above! If you want to buy them any cheaper, you'll be waiting for weeks as they ride the slow boat from mainland China. All you bargain hunters and tightwads take note, this is the real deal! All hail the mighty gods of speed, torque and velocity! Braappp!

You posted this in April, it is now September as I respond to this. Is that 72cc BBK price still valid?

You can reverse the starter wiring by using a small flat eyeglass screwdriver to press down the pin that holds the wiring connector on the wire. Sounds like it was wired wrong from the factory.

Have you tried adjusting the idle? Cold idle can run as high as 2500, I'd recommend you adjust the idle after a 5 minute ride around the block, get the motor up to full operating temperature before dialing it in. Just enough to keep it running but not so much as to engage the drive & take off. Most manuals recommend a minimum idle speed of 1800 rpms on a one cylinder scooter. Have you opened up the carb or rebuilt it?

They call me Super-Dave. Got some mechanical experience, I know some stuff but not everything. Got an '08 Kingling 49, over 5000 klicks on the odo, its tired & whipped. Won't do 30 MPH unless it's downhill, with a tail wind and drafting behind a semi truck. And it eats belts. Looking for a big bore kit that doesn't require cutting the case. And is a kevlar belt worth the extra expense? My other hobby is motorized bicycles. I built this. Took me 2 years & over 2 grand in NEW parts, no bicycles were harmed to create mine. This is what a cool moped should be. It is street legal, tagged & registered.
