Installed a new 8 pole stator and now headlights are dim.

The stator on my brother's 2008 JM Star Adventure 150 seemed to be getting weak, so I replaced it with a new 8 pole stator and now the headlights and taillights are very dim. The dash lights also don't work anymore.
I also installed a new regulator that looks just like the old one.
What went wrong?
