Engine
The 2009 Kawasaki KFX 50 sports an air-cooled, four-stroke, single cylinder motor with a displacement of 49.5 cc. A cylinder bore of 39 mm with a stroke of 41.4 mm and a compression ratio of 10.8:1 provides a safer ride for the younger set. A Keihin PTE 16 carburetor combines with a CDI solid state electric start ignition for easy starting and running.

Is it possible to run a wire from stator to power the ac cdi? Or would I need to change the stator? Or am i in over my head? Thank you tvnacman for helping me out.something tells me that I should just get a dc cdi.(but where's the fun in that). Aloha

Thanks for replying.the thing is I have a extra ac cdi for a 50 cc 4 stroke.I got lots of time and the kfx 50 don't seem to have a hole lot of wires.what would need to be done? Do I need to add a r/r? Maybe you are right lantern, that's why I can't find any one else who successfully converted one.again mahalo for your reply and as always if any one has input I'd appreciate it. Aloha

I've read and read and read about "cdi" ac and dc. My question is I have Kawasaki four stroke 50cc that has a dc cdi that went bad.I now have a ac cdi that I want to use.is it possible. (Can I convert my ac cdi to use in place of my dc cdi) its seem that all searches refer to converting a dc cdi to a ac cdi by running a 12v wire to power the dc cdi..any clarification will be appreciated. Aloha.
